Sorry if that sounded that way to you. I really wasn't suggesting that you were getting into that. I just quoted what you said because it was indeed one of the reasons I suggested stock seals. Some of the posts that followed my short post made me think I needed to qualify the answer I gave and the reasoning behind it.
But anytime you suggest a seal it leads to arguing it seems.

*chuckle* Okay, my bad. Though I swear, I'd love to have the money to go and test all the various seals... set up a bunch of identical engines and find out what the limits for each seal is. Maybe someday.

As for the PPort videos... I'd suspect that they're running a bit different timing than the Mazda Factory Race housings.

Other than the location of the perripheral intake port, the size is also important.
The Rotor housings that Racing beat sells place the intake port high in the intake, for radical timing with the size of the port.(Placing it closer to TDC makes it rougher, seeing that the intake charge is starting run work "against" the Rotor

The MFR housings have less timing, seeing that their ports are much smaller, especially the intake.

The only thing I can figure with the RB housings in the way they designed them would be to reduce overlap effect.
It is a shame that RB developed the aluminum side housings without provisions for side exhaust ports. You could always use a blockoff that protruded into the stock exhaust port. Kind of like a solid insert.
Hindsight is 20/20 and with the Renesis it is pretty easy to look back and say how they "should" have done them

The overlap is reduced by a significant amount, although the intake charge is working a bit "against" the Rotor

Correct. They should have at least attempted to put the tube at more of an angle in the direction of the rotor travel.
