Yes Ernie it's true. Same for the Mazsport RX3 who on May 19 2007 reset the record with a 7.39 with seals 1 1/2 years old and then went on to reset the record again on Nov 13 2007 with a 7.35 with seals closer to 2 years old. Save for the 3 seals they changed out earlier.

Do you know how many runs were made on this motor? and has it ever been apart within that time period? I remember watching this car running a 7.15, but trapped a low mph, I think it was 176mph. Rumors was he could have went faster but something was wrong with the motor.

Don't know how many passes. From what I understand the issue was with the turbo housing which was modified to correct the problem.

Can't say for sure if the engine was apart in the time frame but I think it was due to cracked front plate. They were at some point chasing down problems with the CAS. Apart or not the same seals went back in.

Thats crazy considering Dee and Ken change out motors atleast once a race. In a good way though! Gives the rotary guys a better chance of challenging and winning on a consistant basis.

This is fabulous news. See what happens when R&D finally starts progressing for rotary's. To your knowledge could a comparable piston engine last this long while making the same amounts of power? Not trying to start a flame war, just curious.

Side seals could be tough, already considering the oil seals, already got the apex seals

Any updates on the corner seals?

I have an engine apart right now that's getting a set of ceramic 3mm 2-piece.

Should I wait for the corner seals or just put it back together? I'd love to try them.

Like I mentioned before the corner seals need to be re-made The problem is that they rotated slightly and the slot became off center. We should be able to salvage half the lot by making the 2mm seals into 3mm seals. I am just waiting to hear on a successful set-up for holding them. 2mm ones will be later when I see how this goes then I can have more made.

Basically testing is on complete hold for now but hopefully not too long as I am dying to try them. Timing should be good though as nothing will happen over Christmas anyhow and Gaby will be ready for them in the new year. He wants to run with the 1 pc seals for a bit longer as all is going so well and the engine is performing beautifully. Hopefully we will see a 200 mph pass on Saturday if they get the car to the track for the last time this year.

Then in the new year we can start testing the 3mm corner seals and the 2pc seals in Sporty's engine as well as in Enzo's build.
I still need to formulate our game plan with Gaby. Do we throw in the corner seals first and keep the 1pc seals putting in the 2pc later? Or do we go for the full slam and run the 2pc with the corner seals right off. I'm leaning towards the first scenario because it will give us an instant impression of the difference using the existing platform as a model, then we throw in the 2pc seals and see where that takes it.

Then with Enzo's engine we can start with just 2 pc ceramic seals adding the corner seals afterwards for sort of an inverse testing order.

On another note, I received the second round of my 2mm custom springs and I do not have happy news to report. They didn't correct the whole problem. One of the issues was fixed but they are still not right. So we have more delay's with them

I'm going to spend more $$ on them and see if another spring maker will have better control of the finished product. In the meantime we will see what the current supplier has to say about them. Man will I be happy the day the 2mm springs are finally done. For now I'm going to order a pile of 3mm springs and surface grind part of them for 2mm use.
