I'm a moderator on a mini site (granted, im in the the ICE section, but I still know what I'm talking about) And since mini's have comparitively small engines with only around 40Bhp as standard, they use several techniques to get the most possible out of such a small engine. One of those is when you port the head, is to leave a "swirl" effect on the walls, since this encourages low-level turbulance and keeps the fuel mixture correctly atomised. You rarely get a turbo mini, so when we get one that needs help, they get the benifits of all the little bits that help Bhp and torque
But what about when you're NOT on boost? All that fuel clinging to the sides, gradually building up - so when you slow down, it splutters for a moment or two, it can even cause it to stall if severe enough.
Mine's going to be N/A, the only port you should even consider polishing, is the exhaust - but that get's caked in ***** pretty quickly, so there isn't even much point in that!
lol, don't worry, I'm not being a little know-it-all!!! just my 2pence (about 1.2c)
Oh yeah, but on a ROTARY, you should polish the port extremity to within an inch of it's life!! After that point, it doesn't really have to travel in a restricted pipe
But under boost, given the pressure would it really matter. It had been brought to my attention that a complete glass-like finish was only on N/A applications.
