is the M2 Medium intercooler good enough for single turbo??

If i get the apex Rx6, will the m2 medium be good enough? I road race my car so I would rather keep the M2 medium if possible, but if it's not good enough i will ditch it and get the apex front mount. but my main concern is whether or not it will stand up to the rigors of road racing if i do it. remember, i'm only going to be boosting 12-13 psi and I'm only aiming at 340-350rwhp

maxcooper runs rx6 with the M2 med IC. If you do get rid of ur M2 SMIC I GOT DIBS!
A local shop also told me Apex'i ICs are not as good of quality as GReddy...but then again he's a GReddy vendor, so I dont know. Just something extra to think about.

I think it should be fine. It is harder to dyno tune with it because it heat soaks a lot while sitting on the dyno, but it does a fine job when the car is moving. I've done a few track events with the RX6/Medium setup and it worked fine. Switching to a FMIC is likely to give you overheating problems.

I do think it should be possible to run a FMIC at the track, but I think you'd have to do some custom work with ducting and go the whole 9 yards with the rest of the cooling items (big radiator, water jacket mods in rotor housings, vented hood, synthetic oil, oil coolers, NPG+ coolant, whatever you can think of to help cooling). The few FDs I've seen at the track with FMICs overheated. Only half the FDs with SMICs overheated. I am sure that climate and altitude play also play a big role in cooling system efficiency, as Willow Springs in the high desert heat is quite a challenge.

You will get more HP with a FM.... but if you're doing road racing then what fun is more hp if you have to take a cool down lap every other lap?

Is the main problem w/ overheating w/ a FMIC due to the fact that airflow is restricted to the radiator? I have a 1991 Turbo II and it too is going to be a road racing car, has anybody had any success running venting tubing from the side openings to the radiator? Maybe I should just keep my top mount IC for now. Oh yeah....what do people think about JIC Magic FLT-A2 Suspension?

I think Turbo IIs have bigger radiators, and less power on average. Yes, I know there are some FCs making serious power, but I think the average FD at the track is making more power than the average FC. Those factors combine to make a FMIC less of an issue on the FC. That is just a guess, though, so you might wait to hear from folks with first-hand experience with FCs and FMICs.
