Installed MSD 6A, now breaking up after 5K

I never had any ignition problems before, I got the MSD to see if it would help at all. Now it breaks up at about 5K, and is running like **** under WOT. Cruising is fine. I checked the spark, looks good, I ran the ground to the chassis, then added one to the rotor housing which didnt help. Im about to say **** it and take it out, like I said it ran fine before. Just wondering if anyone had a similar problem with an MSD 6A.

Ive never liked MSD with rotary. Ive always had problems with them. But they also need to be setup correctly as well. And u need to bypas the stock igniter if i remember correctly. Long time since i wierd up with a MSD and otherwise stock ignition system. Ive been on CDI for the last 4 years now. And will never go back.

I have...

Microtech LT8S
stock CAS
NGK BUR9EQP leading
NGK BUR9EQ trailing
factory NGK wires
stock FC Mazda leading and trailing coils
60-1 @ 14-15 psi

again, it runs fine idling or crusing, just breaks up, pulls pathetic, power drops off big time after 5K

So is the MSD 6A designed to work with the Blaster coils, and incompatible with the stock FC coils? I found a wiring diagram from MSD for the Mazda rotary and the picture shows Blasters hooked up....hmmm.

Ok have u bypassed the stock igniter on the coils? And have u sett the ignition output correct in the microtech towards the MSD, they need a diffrent setup then the stock igniter i belive. Im not 100% sure, someone with more knowledge then me on MSD should answer this.

do it this way or you'll have problems. MSD's are known for pointing out bad ignition components. You might've thought your plugs and wires were in good shape, that is until the MSD let you know otherwise. lol...
