I can't do anything until the powder gets here. The powder I won on Ebay should be here next week.
The idea that wwilliam54 first suggested of using a small motor will come in very handy for a lot of things.
I am ordering the ceramic owder from Metco and the first thing I will do with that is coat a new muffler for one of my small engines and see how it holds to that.
On top of all this I am going to Puerto Rico next weekend to meet some of the rotorheads there. This was a pretty recent development. I am going with Victor Sanchez who is pretty well known in this (north Texas) area and really tight with the Puerto Rican crowd.
So I am pretty pumped about that but damn even at only $300 it is a bad timing for $.
I have to rustle up some MORE of that stuff

Well I won some actual ceramic powder on Ebay (not the same auction as earlier!) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=34096&rd=1
It came in today so after I finished pulling the frontend off the REPU I messed with the gun.
My garage is so stuffed with equipment that tomorrow I have to do a lot of rearranging and get my oxy-acetylene cart out. I fired the gun up and pulled some powder through it. There was some impressive sparks when the powder hit the nozzle.
For some reason there is not enough powder flow to the gun. I am not really sure the problem yet. But I did decide to get this outside before I go any further with it.
It could be catastrophic to try to do anything in my garage that emits a flame and sparks

Well this was different. I got everything working right and like always I cut a few corners on getting everything set up properly as far as safety is concerned. It turns out you are supposed to wear a respirator and not get in on your skin or in your eyes. Well at least I had my eyes covered and most of my skin.
But it was a little cold outside and I decided I would just make a makeshift area in the garage where I would not catch anything on fire.
The powder was flowing real well and I got a feel on the adjustments as far as making it stick and appear right.
I hit an old part from the mandrel bender project because it was already beadblasted.
Good thing I decided to drag it outside into some good light and I did not try to spray the whole part because when I got outside I was feeling damn weird I know this is stupid but aluminum oxide just did not sound too bad. Hell most of the sandpaper I use is aluminum oxide.
Okay, quit laughing and just read dammit!!! So this **** starts hitting me pretty damn bad and I was not a happy camper. I belatedly read the warning label (I said quit laugh'n beetch!) and sure as **** it says "Some individuals may show unusual sensitivity to exposure". (i.e. they may get a little ripped!!!)
It felt like I was "speeding" my *** off! At least that's what I hear Needless to say it was not any fun whatsoever and I have to be more careful with that ****

I think I will spray the muffler on the lawnmower since it a really easy test. It may not prove it will work on a turbo housing, but if it fails on a lawnmower exhaust there is no use trying.

I adjusted it until it started "sticking" which was a little longer than I expected. After I thought I had it right I quit and took it outside to look at. Hence the reason it is uneven. The gameplan was to bring it back in and finish it a little nicer. Unfortunatelythe "buzz" kicked in and the plans changed

Hmmm, only because I owe you beer already But that would not be a regular price for sure Between the bead blasting and all it does take a bit. I am not sure how much powder that takes per square inch either.
As hot as you have to crank it I know it goes through the gas probably 5 times faster than a cutting torch.
So I can't get a bearing on my useage costs yet
But for you Hans a 12 pk will get your header done

Well man it will probably be a while before i get a chance to do anything with the 7. Gotta get the motor out and rebuild, and prep chasis for the track, before i mess with a header...and with inflation by the time im done it will probably cost me a keg or two to coat

Well here is the spec sheet to what I sprayed. It is used on jet nozzles in temps up to 3000f. So that part is good.
There is a "thermospray" and a "plasmaflame" process described. The gun I am using falls into the "thermospray" category.
It is a good read I had read it when the Metco rep emailed it a few weeks back. I forgot I had it.
