Yes they were tried by myself and others , do a search and you will find the thread with the pics . Those seals are way too hard , yes they may be un-breakable but they are soo hard they totally destroy the side plates. I had them in my motor and lucky for me I did some **** whilst assembling the motor so it didn't run and I had to pull it and correct the problems , I happened to see the thread and the pics of the side plates before I re-assembled my motor , I promptly tossed the Hurleys in the bin and orded a set of MAZDA ones , which have been going STRONG ever since .
Dont get fooled by the hype , side seals DO not break unless they are installed by a total moron , the original ones are just fine , the HURLEY apex seals are **** to , stay away from them I also had horrible experiences with them too. The original MAZDA IS THE BEST BY TEST !!!! , since going back to the original stuff I have had "good" problems........, busted up some diffs, clutches and a tranny at only 10 psi boost and my motor is still as strong as the day I first started it up. They are quite capable of making the power !!!.

That's not true. Detonation will break side seals.

Thats VERY true , I've grenaded a few motors , so have some of my friends , and not one side seal was damaged . I am not saying that they are indistructable , but other parts (apex and corner seals) will go first.
Thats why there is no need for "unbreakable " side seals.

84-85 GSL-SE are 3mm.

I'll flip ya a Brand New 1 piece 3mm ceramic (set) for $995.00 USD and if you want a custom fit hard chromed spring kit (12 springs) it's an extra $150.00 USD
