Which is better? T04E or TDO6 turbos..

Again, HKS makes the T04E and Greddy, the TD06. Which offers more HP? And which has better spool response? Which is bigger?

Thanks,

-M

The Greddy kit comes with an external wastegate, which can be quite loud if you don't run it into the downpipe. The advantage is that it will be better if you decide to add a bigger turbo. The HKS kit comes with an internal wastegate, which can make adding a different turbo a pain if the wastegate can't handle it. The Greddy kit comes with an undivided manifold. The HKS is divided. Divided is better. Both turbos offer similar power numbers--about 350-400 HP.

I think that if you're using your car on the street you'll be better off with the HKS kit--it's also about $500 less than the Greddy kit. If you're looking for BIG power then I would say to go custome. Where do you plan on buying the kit from, and who is going to do the work?

If you'd like some pictures of an HKS TO4E kit on a 90 TII you can send me an e-mail at jfrederi@juno.com .

I've been in an 88 TII with the HKS kit and the boost response was very similar to stock, unlike my setup. The Greddy turbo is a little bit bigger--but it's not much bigger. So it may have a little more lag. The undivided manifold will probably cause a little more lag.

How about ball-bearing? Are there any true bolt-ons that have ball-bearing?

You could send the HKS turbo to Turbonetics to get a BB cartridge, but the answer to your question is no, at least not in the U.S.

What about the Garrtett T66 turbo. That thing is good for some serious hp's.

I know, but he was looking for a bolt in kit. Maybe we can bring him to the dark side.
