Area 51 Fab's 20B FD in the new Turbo mag

i never really liked the looks of A51's old 3 rotor FD, but looking at the pics in the july issue of turbo, the car is freaking beautiful! i want those pettit flares and R magic front bumper!!.

all i gotta ask is: why the hell is that car still running stock cosmo turbos? theres gotta be at least $100,000 in that car, why the hell is it not running a T76 or something? a car that looks like that NEEDS 800hp!

and why is it that cars like this only get magazine coverage once the original owners/builders sell them to rich guy who cant drive? a couple issues ago they had Albert Diazs' old 9 sec supra featured with the new owner claiming that he bought the car new, and built it himself with help from bullish racing. bullish racing? more like bullshit!! they put a sticker on the car and changed turbos, now they built the car? whatever......

watch out for the silver bullet!!! RX794 where you at?

His car doesn't use pettit flares or at least it didn't. It had R-Magic flares/sides/front on it. I thought the new owner was selling most of the cool stuff like the rear susp., etc on ebay anyways and basically striping the car?

Hmm... I'll have to look for the new issue of Turbo..

yeah the new owner sold the rear suspension and put a conventional set-up in there.

the car now has pettit rear flares, probably put on after the new owner crashed the car (i think he damaged one of the quarter pannels in the accident)

and thankfully the mis-matched two tone rims are gone

Well that sucks. I can't wait to see pics of it with the new flares though. I didn't know the previous owner wrecked it. Maybe I'll head over to Turbo magazine online and see if there is anything online about it.

i just read the article; not only does the new owner take credit for the cantilever rear suspension that used to be in the car, but he takes credit for the whole build up!

also, he submitted a dyno sheet to turbo that they printed in the article. the car makes 396 rwhp!!??..
and i thought my life was a waste of potential....

ok it was on pump gas at 12 psi, but come on....

i've heard of 13brews making 420 rwhp at 14psi on pump gas. he should have left the dyno sheet at home and lied

They should have asked him what a cantilever suspension was. Then the jig would have been up.

It might not be the owners words....sometimes reporters or wrighters pull words from who knows where. Keep that in mind. CJ

It's a show car; what do you expect? Besides, the high-output single-turbo mod adds an astronomical price tag to an already expensive 20B project. As far as I know, Chito is the only person in the US with a running single-turbo 20B FC, and he is running it conservatively.

Sometimes? Once I read an article which reported an event accurately. Once.

Pictures don't lie, captions do.

Not if I beat you to it. However, I still have a lot of work to do, and my full funding won't be back until next year, so your chances are pretty good. BTW, I was talking about street-legal single-turbo 20B FC's, not race cars.

You don't know about Chito's car? He was the first, and wrote this excellent build article:

Back in the day Chito was the man. Nowadays everyone just yawns and talks about how easy it is to make a 9 second car and how their friend's street car has 800 HP.

yes you notice that they always say thier friends car (with few exceptions) Everyone always knows someone. Of course what they dont say is USUALLY they talked to they guy or girl that has it once while they were caught drooling over they 9second vehicle.

Granted Im not any better right now but I will have one and I will have restored it from the virtually the ground up. Now if its really 9 second car or not is still up in hte air but definatly it will be in the 11's. much more than that starts becoming unstreetable on a regular basis.

And I have had a 10 second car it was an 88 monte carlo ss with an olds 403 big block (6.6litre) that was turnign almost 600 hp at the flywheel. I have had a 01 lightning with 443rwhp it was good for low-mid 12's

So I kinda do know what I am talking about.

peace

I haven't seen the article.....but I've talked to a couple of people that have and I'm not a bit suprised the current owner took credit for everything. When he was selling the cantilever on eBay he said that he was the one who had it custom made.....

At first it didn't bother me....but now its kind of pissing me off....especially since the guys at Turbo have been by the shop many times and knew I was the one who had the car built. Its just pathetic and weak when a guy needs to take credit for things he didn't do just to pump up his own ego. Oh well.....every time someone tells him what a great job he did on the car.....he will be reminded of the fact that its all a lie......damn, you think it would be enough just to have the car......next thing you know he will be describing how he imported the 20B, personally had ported it, installed it and did the dyno tuning himself.........FRIGGIN WEAK!!

Getting off of my rant for a sec, from the comment earlier, concerning the HP and the stock Cosmo turbos....the turbos used the stock housing, but Pettit played with them a little bit....and the HP was for street use....I used the car as a daily driver so I wanted to keep it relieable but fun.

If i where you i would mention something about it next time Turbo talks to you.

On a side note its one of my dreams to have a baddass cantilever setup in my FC.

damn dave, sorry the kid you sold the car to is such an *** hole. but i'm wondering how come turbo never did an article on the car while you still owned it?

i know the car was a street/show car, but didn't you get the urge to up the boost on the dyno just to see what it would do?

i still think you should start selling that rear suspension as a kit
i know you must be really missing your car now
