It's not that difficult. 85 GSL converted to GSL-SE suspension, STOCK S4 6pt, Racing Beat Dellorto, street port exhaust system, aluminum flywheel, MSD, 4.88's gave a 13.96@97mph speedshifting at 8200rpm.

Installed a 4 port (Racing Beat template) street port 13b into the same car, used a Holley 600dp. Granny shifting at 9100rpms gave a 13.53@103. With more tuning, slicks, speedshifting and a bit more weight reduction would have brought the car very close to the 12's.

No, you don't need a turbo. You don't need a bridgeport either.

NO JOKING... My friend had an 82 GSL_SE with a flywheel, intake(filter?),headers, exhaust, and maybe a carb. Ran a 13.2. It might have had other stuff done to it before he bought it, but it had a stock ignition, stock sized tires (regular, not sticky), full body/interior, etc.

So I cant imagine what else it could have done to it... And it didnt sound ported...

It only ran this time once, but it still did it.

Im an FD guy so I might have mesed up somehow... What did I state that was wrong? It was a first gen "5 letter" Ugly brown... sunroof... Is the year wrong? Thats what I thought it was...

EDIT: I looked it up knowing it had the 13B in it... I was wrong it was an 85. NOT 82. And he also took off the FI and put on a carb... WHY? dont know.

I suck.

You're OK dude... we get some BSers in this forum so our filters are set on the "HIGH" setting at all times! Honest mistake. Welcome to the 1st Gen forum!

Well I am on the verge of proving you right. I have a '84 GSL stripped interior, bridgeport 6port, GSL-SE trans, stock GSL-SE 4.06:1 gears, dual MSD, Holley 600cfm carb on mickey thompson street tires.

The car is running a 13.14 at 103 right now. I relocated the battery to the rear and my 60' time dropped down to a 1.81, had I completed that run it would have hit 12.9s.

Total budget on this car has been $5500.

Tell everyone that it is completely doable. If they don't beleive it they can come to Rotorfest and see it first hand. Keep it up and long live the All Motor Club!!!
