10.56 @ 130 No Nos!

first off lets tell you what happened.

we thought we blew the motor when we hit the 150 shot. What actually happened was the Fuel solenoid got stuck open and filled the engine with fuel, giving us no compression whatsoever.

So we thought we punked off the motor, we dragged it off the dyno and back to the shop, yanked the motor only to find it full of fuel and perfect inside, except for a broken dowel pin.

the motor was really weak only making 390 - 410 at 30 psi, so we weren't too upset anyway, we thought we'd make it better. I had some stuff I was saving to put in this new motor anyway so now was a good a time as any to try it out.

Went home from the dyno on friday, saturday morning actually at 4am, the dyno guy even came to help us pull the motor, had it out in an hour and a half went home to sleep for 1 hour to come back to work the next day.

I got cracking on the new motor at around 6 pm ported new housings, found some used 93 housings in a box somewhere in my shop that looked mint so I used them. Well as I was putting the motor together I realized they weren't so mint after all. They were warped, when it was all together the thing wouldn't turn. Thats why they were in that box. Bastards!

That was 2 in the morning, I tore it down, grabbed the old rotor housings which I thought had too big of a port, but used them anyway, slapped the bitch together got it in the car and ready to run by 8 am, threw it on the trailer and went to the track.

No tuning new intake ports didn't know what to expect. Jeffrey was driving after all its his car plus I was in no shape to drive. I taped the wideband to the dash stuck the trim **** to the console and said "If it does anything stupid left is leaner right is richer, No NOS now I wanna see how this thing runs"

Jeffrey understood.

there was about 10 minutes in total of idling on this motor. Then came a big smokey burnout, and then ZAP 10.56 @ 130mph No nitrous! WTF I never expected it! 1.45 60'

It then ran that all day we did about 8 passes all in the tens expect the final pass when Jeffrey blew it in the finals against a civic for 2500 bucks! I could have killed him. The car just farted and bogged. You see He figured now that he was only 20 cars ahead of the guy he could try and run a nine with the 100 shot. Well id bogged and the civic stayed on it to win with an 11.40 to our 11.46 What a disaster.

Oh well the engine is strong I'll try the 100-150 shot next week

I'd have Jeff cough up at least HALF of that $2500! :p

But good job nonetheless. What kind of suspension are you running? And is it me, or are those front skinnies...well, NOT skinnies? They have tread on the sidewalls?

The fronts are motorcylce tires. That are Z-rated and have 500kg load capacity.

Front suspension is Cusco coilovers, rear is Advance design Drag shock 180 lb springs.

second place was 750 bucks, Garbage.

I'm still pissed

I don't know why you guys are complaining about weight!
My car weighs 2600 lbs with me in it!
I'm running in a class with cars that weigh 2100 lbs and still having fun whooping up on them
Hey Marcus last weekend I made it to the fianals in the Pro Comp class at the NIRA nationals and came in second to the points leader in the class! I collected my $2250 and not to mention the extra $1000 in contingency that's comming soon!

Pluto, maybe you should lose some weight. Last time I saw you, it looked like you could drop a 150 lbs or so

How much does an NHRA legal cage weigh compared to what you have in your car

Next time you are in town Steve, bring your car by my house. We can pull out the plasma cutter and drop some weight

That what it was like for me in E-town this year, too heavy and just not quick enough for quick class we qualified 11th. Everybody was surprised that a street car was in the quick class against the tin cans.
We have to be a little lighter and a little quicker, I'm hoping the bottle with alot of juice will get us to the 9's that way we don't get the short end of the stick when we race in the quick 8. Somehow, I always end up lining up with Gardella when he's on his best run ever, AND HE mile an hours my *** at the end, But I treed him good at E-town . Jeffrey should have eliminated him at maplegrove but same thing happened with the NOS, thats when Gary came in to win after being an alternate for Glazar.
Jeez just looking at that sentence I think 10.50's is quick but when I look at who we have to race I know we don't have enough right now. I should subscribe to www.yournotready.com :p
I heard Gardella did 160+ mph last month good GAWD!
Pluto take that damn Stereo out!
Cris I have a question- Would NIRA be a better place for us to run instead of IDRC? I mean racing is fun but getting your *** handed to you in the first round by a 9 sec car every weekend after you travel 8-10 hours sucks hard.
In Canada we're the Big *******, at IDRC we get a good zapping
kinda sobering!

Hey Marco!
You stand a much better chance in the Power 6 class at NIRA! The good thing about NIRA's street class is that you can run with slicks! My buddies won this weekend with their 91 TII FC. They qualified #2 with a 10.16@142mph against #1 qualifier Ara with the Bullish Racing Supra who qualified with a 9.70!
Lucky for them Ara blew the supra before he made it to the finals.

LOL!!! You're funny Jay.
I still want to drive my car on the street. I don't think tincan sound of the door would make me feel secure driving around with those maniac on the street.....
The Chrome moly cage is about 1/2 the weight of the cage I have. My cage weights around 150lbs. I think the same cage in chrome moly is about 75lbs.....

Noway!!!! I still drive my car on the street..... I can't live w/o the radio.... :P

I really need to lose the weight but I'm still coming for you though with all these metals in my car!! I just ran a 10.28@129mph lifting so I'm sure I can run very very low 10.0-10.1s. My 60' wasn't that great either with 1.54-1.58s I need to do more suspension work or something.....

Hey Steve!
You need to lower your 60ft times. You probably need new tires
On Joey's(Japtrix) run last weekend when the E-shaft broke he did a 1.39 60ft with the TII!

congrats crispeed

that is kick ***, it just goes to show that you dont have to be the absolute fastest to win races, which is why i am shooting for CONSISTENT 8.50's and then i will trickle down with time.

i got my (8) 1500 cc injectors today i am waiting for my tranny ,Haltech and turbo to come in and she will be ready to fire up i cannot wait!!!

alchohol

yeah, she will be an alchoholic and in the AA club :p have you had any experiance with alchohol and nitrous? i am sure the fuel jets will have to be quite abit larger but how much?

have any of you been keeping up with the pro 5.0 mustangs? there is a guy named steve Grebeck that just ran a 6.65 @211 mph on gasoline and not a "pro stock" chassis(supposedly)!! ******* amazing! at least he is turbo charged though, i think he has a 101mm turbo on a small block.

turbo specialties just dynod a car that ran 157mph in the 1/8 mile @ 9psi of boost! at 15 psi the car dynod 2050 h.p. needless to say i am getting the same turbo (basically) that he is running. of course he has two of them. Reed will not tell me what he has done but obviously it works!!

****! GET me one of those turbos too!

I was at the Street Nationals in Orlando last weekend and they all were there!
I saw enough Thumpers to Kill for!
Grebeck, Gullett, Allias just to name a few were all there.
Alcohol and nitrous is some tricky stuff. Everyone that I know are using different combinations so you'll have to experiment. You know how it is with Alky, go very big with that fuel jet!
The only people I think that actually advertise a kit for general use is NX. They also did a lot of work with Abel in the early days!
I have all the stuff already to convert to Alky but I'm waiting to run a certain # on gas so I too can have bragging rights.
