but you seem mad that he beat a corvette and try to say everything you know to make it seem like the best.
if i were you i would forget it and congradulate the guy
give him some credit

No offense taken.

Im not mad that he says he beat a vette. If he did, more power to him, but from what he mentioned, its very improbably that it happened. Unless, like i said the driver was a retard.

I give him credit for having a nice honda. (yes, i know it was made by acura, but theyre the same ****.) If i saw it happen i wouldnt have such a hard time believing it. Its just hard to picture a NSX with an 80 shot, beating a vette.

And I have to agree, he probably shut down and flashed his blinkers because he knew he was about to get beat. I could be wrong on this one, but thats the classic move.

I had a civic do that to me once, when i was just about to pass him (after he flew past me) at about 130, he hit his brakes and flashed his blinkers. I was like, nah, bullshit, i had your ***. But they either do that, or the flyby. Like them going by you at 120 after you romped on em is gonna do anything...

Anyways, i think this thread has just been about beaten to death...

I even had one where I was sitting at a light, Civic goes by as the light goes green while i accelerate (while its already doing at least 50) and then it proceeds to flash blinkers.

I must have not made it clear. I had to slam on my brakes because there were 2 civics in front of me having a conversation near the end of the track. I'm sorry but If your not winning from 0 to by the time I hit 120mph then YOU LOSE! How often do you idiots race beyond the 1/4 at the track? Same F-ing deal here. I gave him the pleasure (chance) to TRY and catch up with the little left over road that I had risking the lifes of me and others and guess what? STILL DID NOT PASS ME! and the bottle was only at 300 psi.

So to set the score straight I toasted his C6 *** by a car in the 1/4 mile and by a half car by the time I had to shut down to prevent an accident. Don't even try and pull the "well you had nitrous" because I will say "well his engine is over twice as big" I have a high output engine engineered for speed. I get good if not better 60 foot times because of the engine in back. The car is built for speed and if a 7 litre or whatever engine can't take me with an 80 shot then maybe that just says something about Japanese engineering. You guy's can't admit that I'm better can you? I only give credit where credit is due and loooks like nobody wants to admit that I'm just better. Better driver, Better car I don't know just better enough to kick a C6 *** with an 80 shot on a 17 year old stock car with 90,000 miles on it and not one mechanical problem since.

Sorry C6 fans but I will repeat this race over and over again with the same outcome. The driver is not retarted and races every week all night. He had the same results with a 366rwp 425ftlb mustang that I was about to beat as well before we all had to leave.

Also, my car is 200 lb's lighter or 3,020 lbs NOT what many of you suggested. Mine is an earlier model that used thinner alluminum in the body panels. When you add an 80 shot to my current 235-40rwp I'm looking at 320rwp @ 3,000 lb's. If you plug that in to a calc I may be in the low-mid 12's or at least high 12's with a bad driver. Either way it's no wonder why I won the race and I can do it over and over again because we both race all the time and I know that car. He was not spinning and did not have a traction problem. The pavement was dry as hell and great for traction. Besides nitrous is not peak HP it's instant right? So it may be better then what the 1/4 mile calc suggests but in both mine and Nick's opinion we believe to be upper 12's.

Thanks for the rice coment you incoherent pieces of. I only dropped 30 grand cash on the car with money I saved serving the country wich many of you moma boys would not even think of doing or would be able to afford in a life time.

Thank you and just move along high speed club members!!!

NitroNick,

I left the NSX at my friends house. If you know someone who wants to buy it let me know. I'm going to use that money to buy another house ASAP! If you can sell it I will give you a cut.

Thanks

I have a very good friend that lets me race their 05 NSX, I can believe von beat a 400hp vette, its a race anything can happen. The NSX has a great launch, I turn off the traction control, rev to 6k, drop the clutch, and I am gone. I just wish my fd would hook up like that. With the weight advantage and the launch, the NSX could very well do just what he said. I have raced awd cars with my fd, and when they pull me 2 car lengths off the line I have a hard time not frying my tires in first trying to keep up with them. The vette with the big torque, could over do the launch, and the race is over when the cars are that close.

You could have posted those detailed spec numbers 4 pages ago and saved yourself a lot of grief. That's all some of us were wondering about.

Maybe if you didn't get so worked up you could've done that a little earlier, had an intelligent discussion and skipped all that pointless condescending bullshit you just typed.
Awfully defensive... It's just the internet.

By the way, a C6 has a 6 liter engine and beating that stock vette with an 80 shot hardly "says something about Japanese engineering".

What track is this..or do you mean street? How many miles on the NSX? What color?
Military, so your close to miramar? Friend wants to buy either NSX or Supra. Will let him know about this thread, maybe he will IM you about your car...

Japanese have made plenty of great cars, and some shitty ones. The same can be said about American manufacturers. It's hardly appropriate to compare the current engineering of the two industries based on two cars which never directly competed. Not to mention you've repeatedly proven your ignorance about the corvette you're basing your statement on.

^^ Agreed. Yeah, I own a Vette, so call me biased if you want. BUT! youre running a cheater system, so your extra 80 hp throughout the band (which gives you 320 hp) still doesnt do a whole lot to improve your torque. How much torque does it have?

And like greg said, youre comparing a Japanese mid range sports car (that sold for under 50k new) to a American sports car (that sells for 50-60k). If you had a vid that would be great, would love to watch it.

Since you dont though, yeah alright, Civics talking at the end of the track are a valid reason to be on the brakes. HOWEVER, do NOT say that it means you beat the vette. He was just about to smoke your ***, and probably would have had a nose on your. For all you know he already shut down.

As for the engine bit...You have a Vtec 6 cyl with an 80 shot of NOS. He is running a V8 with 6 liters of displacement. He has 400 hp and 400 rwtq. He is also balenced ALMOST perfectly (think its 52/48) So when he launches, he can do it pretty well.

So lets say you have 300 ft lbs of torque, and your car is 3000 pounds (for round numbers). You have 10 lbs per ft lb of torque. He has 3200 lbs of weight, 400 ft lbs of torque. He has 8 lbs per ft lb of torque.

So your 320 hp, and your again 3000 lbs of weight, give you a 9.375 lbs per horsepower. he has 400, and 3200 so he has 8 lbs per horsepower. He is also at a .26 (could be wrong, but should be close to there) for aerodynamic drag. I dont know what the NSX is, but im sure its close to that, possibly .27-.30 would be my guess. I know that your cam retards and advances itself, but i dont know where your power band is. He hits max torque around 46-4800 rpm, and the band starts around 1.9-2000rpm. His max hp is between 6000 and 6400, and its fairly steady curve throughout. (I dont drive a C6 so i dont know exactly what it is...(mine is 4800rpm for torque and 6200 for hp and 385 for each) So you cut through the air about as well as he does, possibly better, but you have less power per pound.

I dont know your gearing, but unless its high (4:1 or around there in the rear end, and 3:1 and down in the tranny) You are more than likely NOT going to pull on him.

based on your horsepower, torque, and weight, it is not possible for you to beat him. He has less mass per horsepower, and torque, so he can easily out accelerate you. Since I dont know your ratios im not going to try and do that as well (though it could make a difference)

Aside from all that, race him off the bottle, see what happens. (Oh, and I dont care if your bottle was only at 300psi, still enough to work isnt it?) The point im trying to make, is that stock for stock, you will get your *** HANDED to you, and Im willing to bet that he would probably still beat you if he launched well, and didnt bog even if you were on bottle.

Race him again, get it on camera, run your bottle and show us the result. Then, IF you finish with a time, Ill believe that you beat him.

of course for the way you described it, you sound like a little street racer. And that 30 grand you saved up and spent on it, im glad you have money to buy a vehicle with. Really, I am. But I really dont care if you saved it all up, or you make payments on it, or you scrimp and save every day to buy gas at the end of the week. You still act like an *******.

Oh, and about serving the country...youre a civilian contractor... So, what that tells me, is that you arent infantry, or another combat, or support MOS. Meaning of course, YOU dont go and shoot at people, you dont do the dying, the killing, or the saving of anything. You build something that would be built anyway if you werent there. Youre a middle man, and can be replaced. Thank you for CONTRIBUTING to this country, but that doesnt mean im going to respect you for it. My sisters ex-husband is a marine, been to Iraq twice, and I would still beat the **** out of him if I ever saw him again, after he ran away with a girlfriend. Just because you served the country doesnt mean you're a good/nice/deserving person. So get off my nuts, knock that chip off your shoulder, and do yourself a favor and get off your high horse. Youre nothing special, for "serving" this country and then trying to use it as a bargaining chip.

I have no problem thanking people that serve the country, and defend our freedoms, to allow us to live the way we do. But they are SOLDIERS. Not civilian contractors.

While im on the subject, To those of you that have fought, or are fighting for the USA right now in Afganistan, Iraq, or wherever you may be stationed, Thank you for devoting yourselves to our country.

Rotary Noob,

Thanks for trying to make a civil statement however, all your claims are again wrong. So I guess that makes you the ricer here. You also tend to choose the wrong words. Let me list a few:

Cheater Bottle?
C6 has 400rwp?
I was never in the Military and I don't get shot at?
Smoke my ***? WTF? I don't remember this happening.
I'm an *******?

1) The C6 corvette is 347rwp NOT 400 and this is according to the dyno results of multiple C6's on the Corvette Forum. Go look it up I'm sure you will. So compare those 2 numbers again and you will get a 9.3 vs 9.3 power to weight ratio. Can you verify that for me? Also the convertable is over 3200 lb's.

2) I was in the Military and performed combat operations overseas.

3) Even as a computer contractor I sometimes have to carry an M16 in Convoy's.

4) So nitrous is cheating now? Ok so is 6 litres compared to 3 litres cheating? Is a turbo cheating? The car can handle over a 100 dry shot on stock everything and took 30 minutes to hook up with no modifications, taps exc to the car. The ECU is smart enough to add more enough fuel so I don't see how thats cheating and everything else is not including racing a car who's engine is twice as big. I won fair and square and my car is faster. Admit it.

5) Please redefine your definition of "Smoke your ***" because it never happend and would never happen. Inching on me for a couple seconds is smoking me? Sorry but I have to disagree with that statement as well. Just admit it I'm better. My car is better or I'm just a better driver. Any one will do. I will be waiting for my answer.

6) 52/48! Whats your point? I have more weight in the rear which helps my launch. You proved nothing. Besides Miata's and RX7's have perfect weight distribution. Again whats your point?

7) I may sound like an *** but you and everybody elses ignorant smart *** comments do not require me to down play myself. Besides I don't own an NSX anymore since it's just about sold and I like the C6 I think it's a great car but I just give credit where credit is due.
next!

A nitrous system is referred to as a "cheater" system at times. Not to say that youre cheating per say, but just referring to the bottle.

As for the ricer comment, I dont think that there is any basis for the statement. A ricer would say, dude all you need to beat a vette is a Cat back exhaust and an intake! Dont insult my intelligence. Ive looked up all my statistics. You are correct though, I didnt look up the rwhp, i stated the advertised hp.

Thank you for serving the country. Dont think im ungrateful. Just dont be an *** about it, and try to raise yourself up on it.

The only reason it is cheating, is because as soon as you run out of bottle, youre back to motor, so you "cheated" on your power for a bit. Yes your car is faster on the bottle. Like i said, run without the bottle, then see what happens.

Smoke your *** = bus length on you when youre not on bottle, or when hes going to pass you at the end of the 1/4 mile of street (which is what it sounds like you were racing on).

It means that your claim of my weight is all in the back, i got a better launch is a moot point. When he launches, its going to transfer about 10% to the back wheels. Hes now at 58%+ in the back. I know what type of traction Vettes can get, and what can happen if you rev to high and try to dump the clutch.

And i think your subtraction of 60hp is a little steep anyways. I have 385hp and 385 ft lbs at the flywheel, and all but about 30-40hp make it to the wheels.

Remember only babies use bottles, get yourself a turbo and crank out some CONSTANT numbers.

Stop thinking youve "owned" me, or that I wont be able to re visit any point you make. Thank you for being civil however.

You have the floor.

Surprising response Rotary Noob,

Your right it is referred to as the cheater bottle I just realized that. Some poeple will argue Nitrous is better. Who wants a 500hp daily driver? I sure don't. When I'm off the bottle it's back to 27 mpg and Honda reliability. But thats a moot point to I guess.

Yes he will toast me without nitrous I would not waste my time but I did prove that an 80 shot has a chance dispite popular belief. Thats my only reason for responding back. Ofcourse since weight is not as much a factor at speed thats probably why he was inching on me at the very end. More horsepower = however traps despite the power/weight ratio...I think.

And thank you for contributing to the economy by buying American. I had to say something nice since you did.

BTW the C6 is arguably the best bang for the buck on the market and I read the reviews but according to the forum a couple poeple got 345-347 rwp but I understand there are to many factors for me to claim that as final.

At the speed you were at towards the end, weight is not as much of a factor, though it still affects the rate of acceleration, it is mostly based on gears, and actual power. You still have to move the same weight, but you have it moving now, so its easier.

American muscle vs import battles are pointless to me, they are both vehicles, they can both be fast, and they can both be fun. I really dont care what kind of car it is, as long as it is built properly for what the driver wants to do, and it has numbers to back it up.

In all honesty, youre correct. The C6 Z06 is the cheapest, fastest, sports car, that you can buy for the money. 72k for a new 500 rwhp (friends dad got one, and had it dyno'ed and they are under rating it for insurance purposes it seems)

It puts you in the league of the ford GT (out performed it on the skid pad, only 1-2 sec slower on the road course, and .X seconds behind in the quarter mile) It beat the viper in most of those catagories, and pulled 1.10 on the skidpad. It will beat most porshes, some ferraris, could probably hang with a lambo for a bit, and definitely is more than a match for almost any other car on the street. For that reason alone, I will buy another corvette if i ever have the opportunity.

All in all, i suppose that since you arent a total jerk, ill say it now. Nice kill. Though i would like to see a vid of it.

Wow thanks!!!

Yup awsome car and I'm still boggled at how they kept the weight down but I will still be waiting for the next NSX or the next RX7.

BTW 400x.15 = 60 so 347 sounds underrated as well. The car should be making 410?

I think the loss is slightly less in a mid engine rear wheel drive pluss since I have less hp to begin with I have less loss. 35 totall I think @ 13%

Wow...I never thought I'd see so many ignorant people. How is this story even hard to believe? As far as I know, the normal C6 is not as fast as a C5 Z06, and the top of the line NSX can run almost equally with that car in the quarter mile. Don't underestimate the car, it's a masterpiece. I'm an RX-7 buff, but the NSX is still right there with it at the top of my list. Plus, von had nitrous, and who wins the race is also decided by the driver. He also has no reason to lie, so i think whoever accuses him of lying is stupid. BTW...what model is your NSX von...just out of curiosity. I'm surprised your selling the car...and I have no clue how you dropped to 4k rpm when you shifted...that shouldn't happen...not as far as I know.

Mazda RX7 Efini Type

It's the 91 5 spd model. It's actually 4.5k RPM's to second maybe 5k actually if I power shift really fast just before the limiter. Thats still out of my power range. The porblem is my 18 inch tires are about 2 inches taller then stock further increasing my gears over a stock car. BTW I hit 120mph in 3rd.

The Japanese R I believe hit 12.9 The later model American version hits 13.3. Me and my friend agreed that I was in the high 12's with the nitrous on my 91 but according to the 1/4 mile calc I should be hitting low-mid 12's but I don't think so according to the but dyno. I think the bottle is to low. I could not imagine a later model 6spd with nitrous. I would be hanging with Lamborghini's.
