MR2 Turbo Vs. Modded 90 N/A

Ok. First off I want to say that i normaly dont race on the highway at all. There's always traffic and its normaly stupid and ive already lost my licence once for 6 months. The race took place on a desolate strech of the highway, in perfect weather. That said...

Ive noticed a MR2 around my area for a long time now. I always know he's around bc of his "screeching" BOV. It's a really nice car; body kit, tints, rims, dual exhust, bov (thats all i could tell he's done) all very clean. I'm not sure of its year but I looks in great condtion and has the "turbo" emblem on the back, in the center.

I was on my way to autozone today to replace one of my headlights. I turned south on 75 and noitced the MR2 was doing the same. I got all excited! Finaly I could see what he could do. We get on the highway (no traffic ) Were going around 70 mph. I'm right beside him sitting in 3rd (5k) waiting on him to make a move. He jumps first, and gains a fender before I react. I react and floor it. This is the crazy part. I stay on his door the whole time screaming. I mean, not an inch of movement. It was throughly exilerating! We went all the way through my 4th gear (120 ish) and backed off. He rolled down his window and gave me the biggest smile, and i returned the favor. I was great. We were truley dead even It was awefully refreshing to do this after being beaten by Cavalier with a V8 regal engine Thought I'd share...

Actually Anti-Rice is putting down 190ish to the wheels on a fairly light automobile. He is also tuned with great compression.

I beleive him 100%.

MR2's have a dual exhaust factory btw.

Thanks Jager!

But yea...it was a great race. What do they put down from the factory. Does anybody know. I think he had a stock turbo with bolt on's. Because if he modded his boost any, im sure he would of spanked me.

^^^ I believe you^^^^

I think he just threw on a BOV and some bolt on's. If he had messed with the boost, i would have been spanked. I actualy expected to be beat. But alas, i wasnt

Nice one, not a big fan of N/A but I guess 190hp for a N/A is good?

<-- Dummy

Anyway, thats pretty sweet. What do the MR2's put out stock? I believe it's about 210hp at flywheel and they lose roughly 17-20%. So probably 170hp if it were stock... maybe a bit more? Regardless, nice one.

Good looking car, they don't put down that much stock and you have to keep in mind that

200hp, 200tq to the flywheel is the stock U.S. rating. Roughly 180 to the wheels.

yeah if it would have been boosted forget about it, my younger brother has a turbo mr2, short shifter, hks ssqv, turbo xs boost controller, down pipe and is at 14 lbs boost. He beat my S5 rx7 NA with intake, exhaust, grounding kit, rebuilt engien w/ 25k and gutted cat. He beat me pretty good, we went from dead stop.

Uh...his motor has a rebuilt motor(street ported too? I don't remember) I know it has exhaust and a SAFCII. His car is quick for an N/a.

I remember when a 1st gen MR2 tried to think he was cool. He was following me on a single lane road for a while, soon as it opened up the MR2 thought he would pass me. (Going up hill on a big bend). Since he was following me the whole time, he didn't see my FMIC in the dark. Soon as I let him get next to me and hearnig his car WOT, I romp mine at 6psi and left him to wonder what just happened lol.

Thanks for backing me up guy's. I seriously dont know why guy's like "eatmyclutch" think N/A's are extremly slow. I just dont get it. I know most turboII's are faster than me. But, you still cant knock them just because you dont see the point of modding a naturaly apirated rx-7.

yeah i guess most of them dont remember that the first ever Japanese car to win the 24hours of Le Mans was a N/A 4 Rotor car !!!
and that the red 4 rotor FD ...is N/A !!!

ppl that hate other rotaries are just like kids in civics and show offs in v8's...
