Monte Carlo SS goes down

I hadn't driven the FD for a few weeks due to the shitty weather, but I had to do some last minute shopping today and thought it would be easier to get around in (and avoid idiots if necessary....lol!) so I took it to Wichita. I was behind this Monte Carlo at a light, both of us waiting to turn right. He turned and was going slow so I pulled around into the inside lane of the 4-way and as soon as I did he goosed it hard, spinning the tires and fishtailing, so I took that as an 'invitation' and stomped it into 1st gear and just wasted him. I mean, it was such an *** raping that I felt sorry for the guy. But he was cool, came up at the next stop light and waved and gave a big thumbs up.

Then later I was stopped waiting for a train when I hear this bad-*** rumbling and snorting and see this red C5 Corvette pull beside me and slightly in front, his personalized plate read
500HP. This car had a huge hood scoop and a big tach on the A-pillar, older guy driving and had his kid with him. I rolled my window down and hollered at him, "Sounds pretty healthy!" and he just smiled and said, "Yeah...a LITTLE bit..."
That was one NICE 'Vette.

Was it the old school (84-88) SS or the new crappy style? Those older ones weren't bad for their time

^New style SS.

Keithrulz - That 'Vette was ******' BAD. I don't know what he was running under the hood, but it wasn't stock and it was supercharged. It just sounded awesome. But yeah, there was still a part of me that was thinking, "Okay Mr. '500HP', let's see what ya got..."

Why didn't I race the 'Vette?
1.) You have a personalized plate that says "500HP" and a car that definitely SOUNDS like it ***** and gets means you are SERIOUS about the car's performance. I don't think I could have taken him except maybe top end.
2.) He had his kid with him.

Look, I don't mind getting my *** handed to me from a superior car, that is part of the fun of having high performance cars....seeing where the bar is at. But I won't endanger some child's life, assuming the dad would have tried to 'play'.
