88 Gxl (n/a) Vs. Civic Hatchback
I JUST GOT MY FIRST RX-7 EVER ABOUT A WEEK AGO, AND I LOVE IT.
ABOUT 4 NIGHTS AGO I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND A CIVIC HATCHBACK PULLED UP NEXT TO ME. I BELIEVE HE TOLD ME HE HAD A INTAKE, HEADERS, AND A CATBACK. SO ANYWAYS I DIDNT FEEL LIKE RACING THAT NIGHT SO I IGNORED HIM. HE FOLLOWED ME FOR A WHILE SO I DECIDED WHAT THE HELL, WHY NOT. I DROPPED MY GEARS DOWN TO 3RD FROM 5TH, AND STARTED TO REV MY ENGINE. HE HONKED 3 TIMES THEN WE TOOK OFF. I TOOK ALL THE WAY, IT WASNT EVEN FUNNY. WE WENT ALL THE WAY UP TO ABOUT 120 MPH. BY THAT TIME HE WAS ABOUT 5 OR 6 CARS BEHIND ME
OH YEAH, ALL I HAVE FOR MODS IS A A'PEXI N1 CATBACK, AND A ACT CLUTCH KIT

Thats funny. I also HAVE one, and there is NO ******* way that could get up to 130 unless it had a b16 swap, or better. Maybe a turbo but on the single cam its pushing it. I have an intake and exhaust, and its a struggle to get it up to 110. So yeah. I'm sorry, but they can not get up to 130 "easily"

Ok, lets talk factory specs, and dyno numbers based on the "mods"
the 92 civic hatchback cx, with an 8 valve 1.5L motor has something like 85hp.... add and intake and exhaust, maybe it will get up to 90ish... That car TOPS OUT at 105 stock, add in those mods maybe 110. Now if it had a b16a or a b16b swap, or if it was the 16valve head, which still isnt fast.... it could be different. I own a basically stock civic hatch SOHC with an intake and exhaust, and it DEF doesnt get up to 120, not even with hills.... And if you guys "checked out eachothers rides" did he tell you what he was running? was it stock, it a swap, you need to include more details..... Too many factors here.

I heard that it's hard to beat EK9 unless you have Turbo 2.
