Wild road race video +crash

there are 4 parts, on youtube . its a 20b turbo rx7 vs a ls7 v8 rx7 for most of the race.

This was the childrens charity grand prix at mission raceway, a by invitation roadrace that attracts the top teams and drivers from all over bc and the nw of the usa. Some cars include Porsche gt3 rs, 911 twin turbo, trans am beretta, 800+ hp corvette, gt1 stock cars, v8 m3, etc. drivers range from club champion to 12 hour sebring winner.

Our car was on 4 year old tires and had some boost issues, its usually faster but that made for a great race.

Well we all know who the two cars to watch where! Its funny how all those Porches and BMW's where slowing you guys down, they need to make room for the real "ultimate driving machine"

that was a pretty wicked race you had going there, you were being really consistent

but alas....someone else has to ruin it for someone

i hope the damage isn't too bad, just seems like some front end fiberglass crap

I do not like to arm chair race, as it is always a lot different in the car and dealing w/ the race traffic. I also do not know what the boost issue was, but it appeared that you were having some trouble staying in the power band of the 20B. The V8 7 was getting a bit of a jump on you out of that "2nd straight", but you would clearly haul him in on the main straight. It looked like pretty aggressive driving was the order of the day. Nice job and sorry for the oil down that took you off.

Looks like you were not the only one claimed by that oil spill... where the hell were the track officials?

That was some phenominal racing. The last few seconds of on track racing show amazing awareness. If you look at 6:17 or so you will see the driver quickly steer off course realizing the car was going off track and to take a different trajectory than the car previous gone off track. That little adjustment probably saved a load more damage from being taken and made for a much safer "accident'

I wonder how many drivers would miss the car in the wall ahead of them before it is too late?

I was sitting in the stands directly in front of you when you crashed, there were a couple cars getting very sideways before that too, a shame they got so much oil over the track and ruined your day. Definitely fun to see both FD's battling it out, you both had some really good laptimes as well, I think you even pipped the V8 FD for faster lap in the race as well didn't you?

From what I could tell the yellow was waving there were two cars off and the driver stayed on line and in the gas. Should of been a debri flag at the previous station but otherwise the corner workers did their jobs.

Nice battle and thanks for sharing the vids. Looks like a really healthy car, phenominal torque, good stuff

I posted some more info of the cars in the 20b forum. There actually was a debri flag out and i should have slowed but in the moment I had this overwhelming urge to try and win. I almost lost it twice catching a big slide. Also I think there were 7 debri flags during the race that were insignifigant as far as the track condition so after a while its human nature to ignore them. Probably won't do that again!

The engine had 50 pounds of compression and was long overdue for a refresh. Usually the boost builds much sooner. Next year the car will be lighter and probably 3 seconds a lap faster.

Great videos. Thanks for sharing. As someone asked earlier if you have pics of the aftermath we would love to see them.

Seems like two other guys had already gone off there... track looked slick and heck... with oil on it too I'm surprised they didn't call the race.

I was sitting right in front, and even as a spectator it all happened pretty fast. The 2 cars before Wouter were able to un-lock the tires and steer a bit to avoid the wall, but they were slower cars as well.
