Above times were running Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and ABS that doesn't work (major lockup prone under hard braking).

I have a new FD I'm building with LS7 power (550rwhp n/a) and everything works... hoping to knock 5 seconds off at each track running Hoosiers and more seat time. That is my 2007 goal at least. This is a street car where I simply change out the tires to race and run the same street oriented alignment with streetable springs (550/450#).

I haven't had the chance to run the LS1FD yet. I've signed up for NHIS on Monday/Tuesday, but I don't think I'll be able to make it. My hotel is already booked for Tremblant.

Times in my WRX:
NHIS C/C 1:22
Lime Rock 1:07
Tremblant 2.00.029 (faster than Jack?)
Mosport 1:47

With this i'll agree. Per all of the lap time comparison threads we've seen about comparing best FD times with those of M3's, Vettes, and Porsches, it's important to remember how comparitively little these cars were developed, how infrequently they were raced, and how infrequently they've been in the hands of real pro's to turn times.

At some point I'll compile all the data gathered on this thread. With any luck there will be some value-added...
More times in a stock r1 with catback NO dp or mp, intake, victo racers and Hawke blues on all corners at 8 to 10 psi (bad check valve hehe). 135 or so on the straights at Summit and 140 at VIR.

Summit 1:26
VIR 2:16

FWIW I think a stock FD with hoosiers, exhaust and intake that's lightened a bit and track prepared could run a 1:24 at Summit and 2:13 at VIR.

You're definitely right about the cars potential not being tapped yet. Spec miata times keep falling and that's a very competitive class so it's truly all about seat time.

I admit I know nothing of the other 3 tracks and I've only been to RA once...but 1:35 in a n/a 1st gen is tough for me to swallow...

That's very fast for any car much less a 1st gen that's naturally aspirated. Please fill us in on your secret to speed. I'm sure you're great driver but lets hear about that car.

Well... I have only driven west coast tracks.

I've done 1:45 at Laguna Seca on stock size Toyo RA1s which is an ok time for a DE event. Spec Miatas have matched or beaten that time with top drivers. A lot of time at Laguna Seca can be shaved off if you drive it with ***** of steel and great skill. I guess I worry too much about my car and my neck.

I've done Buttonwillow many times but it has so many different configurations that it's hard to compare times from event to event.

I've done a lot of events at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV. They just enlarged the track and I've only run the new track on street tires so I don't have a good time there yet. The old track I could do a 1:51 on R compounds.

For those of you who have raced at Summit Point, can you please post times for the Shenandoah Circuit. (I'm assuming the times posted were on the Jefferson)

Thanks!

That must be the North or South course. Otherwise, I suggest this guy gives Flavio a call about the empty Renault seat.

LOL

I forgot to take my phone in to work and the charger is at work so needless to say it's desperately in need of some juice.

I'll call you tomorrow.

I believe Speedturn's car to be a peripheral ported IMSA GTU style racer. For SCCA folks, that's GT-2. Also, I have seen some of his in-car video shots....the guy is a heck of a good driver.

Jeff, that 1:55 was moving. Thats one of the fastest times in the club. You would have put the hurt on many of the PCA guys on Sat/Sun. Paddy, my brother, said that you passed him like he was standing still. Do you have a full mod list?

I drove like a ***** and ran an embarassingly slow 2:10. Then I threw the keys to Paddy. I kept his times during the moring sessions and just watched as his times dropped second by second from consistent 2:01's all the way down to the 1:56's. and then he ran a 1:56:0 in time trials on 255f/275r RA1's and original 90k mile suspension. V8 powah!

Pete

Well that explains it

I knew there was some kind of secret.

Posting GT2 race car would of been a bit more important than old tires

Thanks Pete. Given the suspension setup your brother's time was amazing! As far as the 2:10...I wouldn't sweat it for a second. Increment, increment, increment. You have plenty of time to work the times down. Only good way is seat time, and it's tough to get seat time if you ball the car up.

I figure I've got another 2+ seconds in me @ Tremblant. I had some boost issues and given the LENGTHY layoff for me and the car I'm pretty pleased with the results. Next time I'll be shooting for low :52s

The car has standard power mods ~315 RWHP. Suspension is pretty standard as well with coilovers (GAB Super R), front sway, rear toe links & trailing arms.

Btw, the motor had a whopping 800 miles on it when it rolled off the trailer Thursday... Break-in??---we don't need not stinkin break-in!

Yes, my car is a 1979 RX-7 1st gen, built to run fast on the track; not a street car. I thought this forum was for race car tech.

I mostly compete in Historic Sportscar Racing's IMSA GTU class. I was HSR GTU class champion in 2003 & 2004. I run maybe one race a year in SCCA; my rear spoiler is not GT-2 legal, so I usually run SPO in SCCA road races. Those that came to the big Mitty race in April at Road Atlanta saw me run 1:35. I won the all Japanese car race that weekend. I have offical results sheets with my lap times for the non-believers.

I have stock tail lights. Every other part on the car has been either ground down, welded up, replaced with something lighter, stronger, stiffer, or if the part did not make the car fast and reliable then it was **** canned. Turbos or nitrous are not legal in my GTU race class.

My next race will be an SCCA race at Nashville Superspeedway September 1&2, then at Barber Motorsports Park October 13-14-15. Come out and see my car in person.

Quick Reply: What are your lap times???
