Yeah, I think that is what Rohan (from guru racing) says as well! That is why he now only quotes AUD because the dolar goes up and down more than a busy street lady! But mostly down!

Any updates on this subject? I'm looking for a protection device in case my clutch lets go. I've a FC TII tranny, so it would need to fit that.

Thanks

One of the reasons that most people don't run a ballistic flywheel wrap for Rx-7's is that the flywheel is actually in a plane in front of your feet. Since it is rotating at a high speed, it has gyroscopic stability and woulkd take an immense whack to change it's plane of rotation. I've seen pics of Rx-7's that were nearly cut in half by flywheels that came loose, but the flywheel on 1st gens is completely in front of the firewall, so your feet and legs are really in little or no danger. As a precaution to minimize the destruction wreaked on the car itself though, I can see it as being useful.

It is required for any rotary going faster than 13.99 per NHRA, they have let me slide a few times but, it's getting to the point where they really look at my car down in the 11's. It really is a good idea since the fuel lines cross that plane anyway. I would hate to see 600gph of fuel turn into a fire ball lOl.
I should have it in a few days, hope it fits well.

As with all safty stuff, it all seams like crap till u need it.

For a REAL scatter shield go to http://www.theracingstore.com Go to drivetrain. Those blankets are made for automatics only.

What does the SFI 4.1 stand for?

I'd love to have the steel one.

Cut Car in Half

I had a flywheel explode in a GT2. It cut the bellhousing, frame, fuel line, brake line, and body inhalf, and set the car on fire. The good news is that the flywheel was inches in front of my feet, so when it skidded to a halt I could use the fire extinguisher to put it out.
