thoughts on Ksport and Megan Brake Kits

hey guys

was looking for your thoughts on these newer companies that are producing big brake kits

the 2 I'm interested in are the Ksport and Megan kits, the megan kit is 6 piston front calipers and the ksports are 8 piston front calipers on 350-355mm 2 piece rotors

the megan kit im more interested in because they have a combo kit for front and rear brakes heres the link:

http://www.meganracing.com/products/...x=13&input.y=5

and heres the ksport kit:

The only "offbrand" kit I have had any experience with is the D2 kits, which are almost direct copies of the AP racing brakes. So close in fact the parts are interchangeable! I have a friend who is using a 6-pot racing setup and other than the purple anodizing turning brown they work pretty well.

If your trying to save money on a racing kit look to Wilwood and come up with a Coleman or similar rotor package (I might have to put something together and market it, seems to come up fairly regulalrly) If your looking for a BBK kit for looks I have no idea what you need.

When I look at anything but the big names I always worry about pad shape, pad thickness, rotor quality (hats & rings) and parts availability.

This is one reason I love the Wilwood Superlites. Everybody makes 7420 pads, and they're cheap. And AP Racing just released a spiffy 4-piston caliper that uses the same pad shape, too!

Check out the "FC Brakes" thread that was started a few days before this one. I think the same site may have FD brakes. Or contact Todd@TCE from that thread. Personally, if I had an FD and not an FC, I'd be looking at the AP Racing kit, or the StopTech. They're ready-made and high quality parts. I think there's another thread talking about FD brake kits already, too?

My buddy has super hookups on the Megan/ Ksport stuff, I had tried to order the Megan racing ones, but since mines a street car they didnt want to sell them to me. They are serious about the track only, tho i didnt really push and just spent the money elsewhere on my car.

I told them I had a street application, and then the sales rep was like oh noooo these are for track only, street driving will cause dirt and stuff in the calipers and make them fail and they didnt want any of that.

He might have just been retarded.

All the brake manufacturers say that if you try to buy a caliper without dust boots for a street application...
