I have to ask, was your car featured in Sport Compact Car in their handling competition back in 2000/2001? Your mod list from that time period makes it sound like it was yours.

Still fighting some kind of ignition issue, was hitting a wall at 5800k. Redoing the whole thing today.

Dan,

I saw your car run at the Dixie NT last month. Looked very fast out there. Good luck this season!

I guess I'll resurrect this thread as Tinkerbell is coming out of retirement. I am Dan's long time co-driver, co-builder of the car. I am now prepping it for the Ultimate Street Car Association events sponsored by Optima.

Many Changes have occurred since Dan last posted, but most noted are the change to a Borg Warner 8374 internally gated turbo on a Full Race manifold. We also widened the front fenders to allow us to run 315/30-18's on all 4 corners and a C-West front bumper and more aggressive splitter capped things off. We got the weight of the car down to around 2520 lbs in it's last SSM configuration.

Now, much of that gets undone as we add creature comforts back, ditch the huge rear wing and bolt some BFG Rivals on. I'll add some photos of the progress below.

Yes, the last pic has 315 Hoosiers, I will have to switch to 200TW BFG Rivals for the Optima series.

What width and offset are you running to fit 315's tires all round?

Other than widen fenders, did you have to modify the headlight buckets or the uni-body pinch weld to get the tire package to fit in the front?

18x11s with 7.5" backspacing, no mods to headlight buckets and I think we flattened the rear pinch weld a bit on the front.

Brian, do you know what the ride height is? Frame rail to floor would be most useful I suppose

I finally got the car back on the ground. It is 5.25 in the front and 5.75 in the rear from the pinch rail to the floor. It may settle a little more after some time since it was on the lift for a few weeks.

Brian, This is James with the silver SSM car. Are you planning on coming back to SSM? We could use another 7 in the mix!

Nope, the class has jumped the shark in my opinion. In order to be competitive, you have to spend too much money on a car that is good for one thing only, racing around in parking lots. It is going back to street and running USCA www.driveusca.com events where it gets to be driven on the big tracks too with coverage on TV and maybe an invite to SEMA!

Here are some updated interior pics after some refurbishment, lots of cleaning, and new Corbeau Forza seats.

How do you keep it from understeering with such a big wing compared to the relatively tame front aero?

Don't drive over the limit of the front tires.
