Helmets

hey guys,

I am shopping for a SA2010 helmet.
Currently I am trying to decide between a Simpson Bandit ($399) and a G-Force Pro CFG ($349).
The G force is a little lighter (3.1 lbs vs 3.7), and looks cool in carbon fiber. G Force also has HANS mounting and Simpson doesn't. The Simpson is a lot more common helmet.

Anyone have these and like/dislike them?
Anyone have something in a similar/cheaper price range and really like it?

I know everyone is going to tell me to go try them both on, but that isn't really possible for me since there is nowhere close that sells them, and I need to get it on the way pretty soon, as I have a couple track days in October and I don't want to wear my old crappy helmet.

Thanks
Pat

Both are nice helmets. I used to have the Simson Bandit. I liked it. But now have an Impact Eurosport. Their 1320 is a little better priced(300 I think). Bell is also has good stuff at good prices. If your looking at costs. remember one thing. It comes down to, what is your head worth.

Do you know anyone with either brand that will let you try them on? A poorly fitting helmet can be miserable, especially if it puts pressure on your forehead. I've never been a fan of Geforce and Arai for that reason -- the pressure on my forehead gives me a headache after awhile.

Don't sweat the lack of HANS anchors. The HANS comes with instructions to install them if your helmet isn't prefitted. IIRC it took me about 15 minutes to do.

Since Shoei stopped making nomex helmets I've been using Bell. No complaints.

Like Sctty, I was a Shoei guy and also switched to Bell.

Buy the simpson! I've got a g force and its junk. I used to use a Bell. (until it expired ) and got the g force as a present. It feels chinsy on your head and the lining is tearing out. The rubber around the base of the helmet is coming off. I won't ever buy a g force with my money. Cheap is what you get.

Hmm my wife used a g-force sa2010 for the past 3 years and she has no complaints.

To each their own I guess.
