Grassroots Motorsports/NASA UTCC(Ultimate Track Car Challenge) 2010
Passing this along for all of you track rats. It will be Friday, July 23rd at VIR. It is basically a NASA Time Trial put on by GRM. Same rules apply and I believe you either have to have a valid Time Trial or Competition license. I see a couple of RX-7's have already put up their car domain pages for it. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to make it yet, but I'll be throwing my name into the hat if I am able to. Fritz, I make it and you want to, you are also more than welcome to drive the yellow car. Since anything goes, the engine restrictions will be coming off as well as the pettit flares and 295's/335's will be going on

July 23 – Virginia Int'l Raceway – Alton, Va
Who has the fastest track car in the country?
At its core, the Pirelli Ulitmate Track Car Challenge present is a very simple event. Apart from some simple classing guidelines, the UTCC is a “run whatcha brung” affair that settles the argument. Think your car is in the hunt? This is a great year to prove that you’ve got a fast car.
The annual Pirelli Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports is here to provide the answer. This event will pit a wild assortment of track-ready beasts against the clock to determine which is the quickest of all. The action will take place at Virginia International Raceway’s Full Course July 23, 2010.
As always, we’re opening preregistration for the event at CarDomain.com to anyone who thinks they’ve got a great track car: That includes everything from casual weekend toys to full-tilt race cars. Obviously we’re looking for fast cars, but we also love variety. Part of the fun is seeing how a comparatively tame car fares against the meanest of the mean in the same conditions.
The editors of GRM will draw from this pool of preregistrants to fill the invitation-only spots at the event. As always, readers will be able to vote potential competitors up or down within the UTCC category at CarDomain.com; the GRM editors do pay attention to these popularity ratings when picking cars for the event.
The Nitty Gritty of Signing Up
If you’d like to be considered for the 2010 Pirelli Ultimate Track Car Challenge, sign up your ride at CarDomain.com. Then, when editing your car’s Ride page, click on the “Hit Counter & Ratings” category at the left and check the box for “2010 GRM UTCC.” Save your choice and the site will plug you in to the 2009 GRM UTCC category.
You can view the other competitors by clicking the UTCC link from the Top Rides page. It can take a couple of hours for the list to update, so don’t panic if your car doesn’t show up instantly.
If you have any questions about licensing or your car’s eligibility from a tech standpoint, the friendly folks at NASA are here to help. We’ve got a dedicated thread about the event on our message board. Click here to keep up with the conversation.
Drive Fast, Win Stuff!
The 2010 Pirelli UTCC presented by Grassroots Motorsports offers competitors a chance to win more than a trophy. Event sponsors are stepping up to the plate to offer cash contingencies for successful UTCC entrants. We’ll be announcing these programs as they are finalized.
HRE Wheels was first to offer up a generous cash prize and deeply discounted pricing for UTCC competitors.

Driving that beast would be a pleasure and an honor I plan to do the BMW thing on the N course and may even do the Chin event back to back in July so we'll have to see although that would be super fun to attend/watch and then run TTS in my car over the weekend so it certainly is tempting. BAsically if you get your car in I'll go so keep me posted

I think I can get in, I am just waiting to find out where I'm going to be at in the world during that weekend. I agree Pete, it'd be cool to hang out that weekend and not have to constantly be doing something... and then drive Saturday and Sunday. Of course, I'd be kicking myself if I got there Friday and wasn't driving. I'm hitting up CMP next weekend for the yellow cars second weekend out. Hoping everything goes smoothly, I have a good feeling about it though. Have to get all the bugs worked out before VIR so I can hang.

Bump this to the top to remind everyone it's this weekend. I won't be in attendance due to Army stuff, but I think there are going to be several RX-7's running, as there were last year as well.
