Fritz and other track guys:
I was going to start a new thread but problably this is better to find all of you.
I road race a 93 with around 410rwhp with 285 Pzero D5 slicks, Cusco 1.5w lsd, and everything else needed except for the stock transmission.
We have broken 3rd gear about 4 times now. New gears from Mazda Motorsports last about 3 events and new gears with cryo treatment last about 5 events (these are our actual results); so not what we expected from cryo.
We thought about dog gears but PPG Australia no longer manufactures them (as informed directly by them).
So here is the question: What at you guys doing for trannys? Do you know about any other other option to fit the factory case besides the dog gears no longer manufactured due to lack of demand and age of the cars, etc.,...? Are any of you road racing a 20B...? Gforce and modify...?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, November at VIR definitely sounds good. I'll have to check with the home office first, but I'd say count me in at this point.
Heck, I think we can get Ashraf there, now that his MCATs are over.

Personally I've only had one trans go bad and it was the 3rd gear but that car saw LOTS and LOTS of track action. There was probably 20k track miles atleast on the trans and when I bought the car the trans was very loud so it was on its way out.
I think shifting at 7500 and heel toeing to match rpms in the 4500 to 6500 rpm range should really help keep the heat down in the trans. If you're actually racing and need to ring it out each time on the track I'd consider a trans cooler. Also like most street cars the FD is not a car you can slam gears or you will catch the syncro of any of the gears so you have to go a beat slow and shift with a gentle hand to keep them happy. AFAIK the drive line in the FD is actually overbuilt so you shouldn't have problems unless there's another contributing factor. I like using NEO gear oil.
I tried some cryo treated rotors (brake rotors) and they made no measurable difference imo.

I don't see any RX-7's signed up for the TrackDaze Event. All I see are some Vette's, Porsches, and Bimmers. Get in there RX-7's!

^^^I'm Dexter Davis...
I need to build a track car... I'll be going slow because my insurance doesn't cover damage on the track.

First time at the track... I'm excited! I'm watching every video from your folder Fritz, and even though I won't be going nearly as fast, it looks like a ton of fun.
