Thank you!

The steering column is from Equipment for Racing Professionals--Woodward Precision Power Steering!
There is an adapter that fits the Mazda rack on one side and is the 0.75 thread they use on the other side. Have to look up the part number. If you search on here, I believe it's posted on these forums as that's where I found it.

Well have been working on a few different projects and my race car mixed in there too. Finished all the oil and fuel lines and have run the rear coolant passage through the side to the front which needs to be completed to connect to the rad or water pump. I have not decided if I will do a reverse flow or not yet!

I love this build, not a fan of the inline 4 but is still a mazda engine.

Have got some wiring done, and did the modifications to the water pump to go with an external pump. The Meziere water pump is on its way as well! I went with -16AN.

Thanks! The startup is soon! Water pump here next week most likely. I am trying to finish the interior work meanwhile. I have added all the support for the tin-work and now the task of getting cardboard cut to shape.

Thank you!

Pump is mounted and cooling system is done. Working on making templates for the rest of the interior sheet-metal.

Getting the intercooler ready for the arrival of the turbo! Oh and added a coolant filler neck since it probably is required!

wow thats great build , I'm actually kind of happy to see a BP in the car . I for one am a huge fan of those motors .

BUT I am curious on a couple things .

WHat did you do to the suspension

I'm honestly not familiar with the FB suspension did you modify it any ??

I ask , because the miatas have such great suspension design . compared to an old FB .

Miata's suspension are double wishbone , just like the FD's so I was curious why you chose to put a miata's motor , and not just use a miata body . why go for the FB ?

Thank you!

As far as the suspension: the front is modified FC suspension and the rear is a unparallel inverted 4-link with coil overs that is designed for the car. The front is ready for a future double a-arm. However trying to get the car to the track for the next year and that will be done probably the year after due to time and funding.

The car is basically a tube chassis now minus the roof and some of the firewall.

The car has been through a few revisions with a 13B and 20B planned previously. So I already had the car under the knife. The engine was originally built (in lower power form) for a Protege and then an Escort GT. I am into endurance races, so a high power rotary was not the first on my list and neither the lack of the torque (yes there are argues against both of those as I have done quite a few 8 and 12 hours races with rotaries), but that was my decision.

As for a miata, I am not really interested in them. They are cool cars, but not a big fan of the looks. In addition the car is too small (I am 6-2) and not really something I would want to run around on the track doing endurance races at 600HP. In addition it doesn't allow enough room to put parts for endurance (e.g. big fuel cell, big coolers, big transmission, dry sump and such).

I see great answers there .

I personally like the FB alot. and alot of great points . I am looking forward to seeing this car on the track! , make sure to go pro some events for it !

And for endurance racing the not so stellar MPG's of the rotary does kinda hurt LOL

but I never found my miata to be very good on gas either lol

as for the suspension design . I'm impressed if you dont mind me asking how does it handle compared to stock? ( i'm assuming you've driven it before it went under the knife ) lol

Thanks! The MPG won't be too great on the track, can't make that much power and be fuel efficient, but we will see!

The suspension: I have never driven it with the rear since it has been in the fabrication process. The front however is much better than the FB's suspension. And the steering is night and day compared to the recirculating ball...

In other news: Look what showed up yesterday! BorgWarner EFT 8374 is finally here! This thing is massive!!! There goes the fuel economy! haha

Thank you! I can't wait either. If the few pieces like the aluminum v-band show up in time, the engine should fire up during the holidays!

To run the engine, I have to take the pan off and weld a bung for the oil drain, as well as I have some trap doors which I will make a oil baffle with. Then put a battery in it and run a couple of power cables and we are ready to fire it up. I have a tune from back in the day when the engine was 400hp, which should be a good start.

As far as the car itself, there is quite a bit of little work left. Have to finish all the welds; finish the interior panels; wiring the rest of the car (not much wires anyways); do the ducting for all the front coolers; front sway bar; front and rear diffusers; and changing the rear to Wide5 hubs and off course the drivers haft front joint needs to be installed and balanced. Lots of little stuff.
