Alwan16's SCCA Nationals Blogsite

Hey guys,

Just thought I would let you know me (alwan16, i'm using reza's laptop) and Reza are off to the SCCA Solo 2 National Championships today. I've started a blog at my website at the following address. We aren't running until Thursday but are arrving on Monday because our friend Rick is running SM2 on Tuesday and Wednesday. It's gonna be a looong trip. Anybody else going to be there?

Forecast is 60% rain.

Anybody in the area with rim and good threaded soft compound tire? Maybe Hankook, Kumho MX or even better Hoosiers Rain Tires. Call us at 510-579-9876

If you don't know which tire to run put race tires on one side and street tires on the other. Lay the rest of the tires out and ready to go, pressures set and everything. That way at the last minute you only have to change two tires and since they are on the same side of the car you can change them by jacking one time.

I can do it in under 3 minutes

Good luck.

They hold off the event for the past 2 hours now due to lightning and rainstorm.
Most people have two set of tires, we may need a set. Are you here at the Nat tour Damon?

Nope. I ran several guys I expect to be in the top 12 or so at the SWDiv in August. Car was good, I was good and I was murdered by the vettes. I'll still go do Nats sometime but this year we're spending the money on a new kitchen.

Rain has been playing with all the classes but nothing is tighter than STU so far! 1st thru 6th places within half a second of eachother after Day 1. Go Tim!

I got back last night. Wow! That was my first Nationals. What an experience. I was running in SM2 which I chose this year for more competition regionally. Nationally I was uncompetetive ending up 26th out of 27 cars. I knew the outcome going in and went for fun.
After seeing ASP running in the pouring rain Thursday morning I wish I stayed in that class because I love Auto X ing in the rain(we do that a lot up in MI) . I probably could have trophied as most the cars were still on race tires. The 7 was flawless all week. I drove down with my tire carrier in tow 1600 miles total at just over 21 mpg (I am pretty sure I was the only SM2 car that drove to the event).

Meeting all the competitors and racing with some of the best in the Nation was great. Watching Andy Mckee's RX-7 run and meeting him was great. His battle with Thomason was everything it was hyped up to be. I would tell anyone that loves Auto X just to go even if your car is not prepped to the National level. I had a blast.
The only part that sucked for me is that someone ran into my car at the grocery store a mile from Forbes field and crunched my right rear quarter and took off. Oh well that could happen anywhere. I called it my souvenir.
Great meeting you Rick, Alex and Reza
DNF ing the first corner of your first run of your fist Nationals... Priceless. (they canceled the course walk between 3rd and 4th runs and I did not get to walk in the morning. Oops!)
