I am suprised that none of you use an aftermarket thermostat. I use a " super thermostat " as it is labled in Japan cost me like 70 dollars but I get a 5-7deg drop in temperature just from having it and on the track any increased are much more linear.
I have a FC3S with a 2 core brass radiator stock clutch fan using Prestone antifreeze and water. The unerpinning is also missing from my car my water temp on a hot day at the track is 105deg......normally crusing and street action is 79-83deg. I am sure if I used the underpinning and tried to make it cool better I could but this setup works fine for me. For those of you who don't have datalogit look into a different tempurature thermostat.

relevant mods.....
rx6 single, ms vented hood, front mount,
and a vertical STOCK radiator.
running 86 on the highway, 89 in traffic (have seen a spike up to 91 on a 100f day, normally the temp is around 85-90f though (lousiana). warmed up intake temps are around 40..
I run about 15% coolant and water wetter...
not bad with a stock radiator... now you know why i've never bought a fluidyne for this car... though the other one i had too... go figure, very car speicific..

Hmm just something new here on this. I changed my clutch fan the other day because I kept seein 100 to 110 deg temps.......after changing my water temp has not broke into the 80's yet even drifted and touge on Saturday night. I guess my old fan had been getting worn out for a while now.

Since my Koyo Radiator install I see 85-86 C consistently under normal driving conditions. My motor was recently rebuilt and ported with upgraded silicone water seals by Pineapple. I also use Evans coolant at their suggestion.
Prior to the Koyo, I did see 121 C on a 100+ F day going up a mountain road. That's when I bought the radiator. I'm guessing that my rebuilt motor's sealant may have partially clogged up my old stock rad....
It's all good now

Cruising local roads with fans on HIGH, 84-86C
Track conditions, it goes up as high as 110C
FMIC, koyo radiator.
Im' a little curious about the usage of Redline Water Wetter. I bought a bottle this weekend but from the rumors I'm hearing, I'm feeling a little uneasy about it.

Do the fan mod.
I hooked up the wires to the fog light switch (removed the fog lights to get more airflow in the front - they are useless anyway) Normal running temps are around 85, but when I am in traffic or get off the freeway, I hit the switch. this gives 2 advantages:
1. this kicks in the fans on high without worrying about the A/C, basically fans on demand (this keeps mine at 87 regardless of how long or heavy traffic is)
2. this sets you up for the 2 minute minimum for the 10 minute kickdown to med fans after the car is turned off.
Even if temps get to 95 or more, if I then hit traffic, it will cool right down to 87. and remember the fan mod benifit, if you run the fans on high with the switch for at least 2 minutes before turning off you engine, then wait 30 seconds before turning off the switch, you fans will kick down to med. speed for 10 minutes. this will cool the engine bay down faster (helping delay the hardening action of rubber and plastic) and when you start the engine again, it will not still be cooking.
