Yep...another idling problem

OK...spare me the search the forum bit. I've been all over this thing looking for fixes.

Flow wise my car is stock...intake...exhaust...the whole bit. For now the only reason the PowerFC is on the car is to turn the fans on earlier. The car idled fine yesterday before the PowerFC was installed. 720 RPM at clean idle, 800 RPM with Electrical Load (E/L), and 1000 RPM with A/C.

- Changing the target idles in datalogit or on the commander does nothing.
- Turning off the O2 feedback does nothing noticable at idle
- Turning off the ISC does nothing noticable at idle
- Disconnecting the ISC does nothing noticable
- Adjusting the Air Adjusting Screw (AAS) and Throttle Adjusting Screw (TAS) moves the idle around

Problems
- Adjusting the Idle to 800 RPM without E/L gets me 700 RPM with E/L
- Adjusting the E/L idle to 1400 RPM gets me 700 RPM with A/C.
- Adjusting the E/L idle to 1200 RPM gets me 600 RPM with A/C.
- Once the fans turn on high the RPM starts hunting by roughly 700 RPM. Average RPM varies based on bleed screw adjustment. Duringt the down swings the injectors are being turned off completely by coast down fuel cut. If you alter coast down fuel cut it affects the swing. I can get rid of it if I crank up the fuel cut to higher than normal amounts...2200. Problem is now I'm idling at 2200.

Besides playing with the bleed screws I've tried disconnecting the battery and doing a hard reset then the learning procedue. For the first 7 minutes it idled beautifully at 800 RPM. The first fan turned on then and I let it cycle on and off to finish out the first 10 minutes. I loaded up the cars electrical system to get E/L to trip and it idled smoothly at 700 RPM (always 100 RPM below non E/L). I turn on the A/C at the 20 minute mark and the idle falls thru the floor. I kick idle up to 1380 RPM and the A/C on idle is like 680...barely smooth. I let it idle for 8-10 minutes with the A/C on..no change. The fans finally kick on high. The 700 RPM surge returns. I try all kinds of different combos of the AAS (all the way in, mid, and all the way out) and the TAS adjustments required to attempt to keep the car happy. Nothing works.

So...a few possiblities:
- The IAC is smoked. Funny that it went bad immediately after the Power FC install. Anyone ever seen that?
- Vaccum leak? I was just under the plenum a couple weeks ago...maybe something let loose. Then again it was fine yesterday before the Power FC install.
- The Default Power FC map has some fueling problems at 1200-2000 and 10 to 4 inHg. (Maybe?)

What sounds probable? Any other ideas?

I'm putting a wideband, SR Motorsports intake, ASP Medium IC, and full exhaust on the car soon BTW. Well...if I get this cleared up that is. :p

Thought

You apparently know more about this car than I, but after owning two of them for many years I have found that every idle problem I've ever had has been either the TPS needs adjustment or a vacuum/solenoid leak. Once I replace all the vacuum hoses with silicone, that leaves me with TPS adjustments when the seasons change. Actually, once my pulsation damper was leaking but the fuel smell was a dead giveaway.

Anyway, good luck.

Yeah yeah yeah...

So...ummm...you know...for some reason the ISC doesn't like to work when you mis-count the pins and cut its wire instead of the EGR wire. I guess it's funny like that.

The damn thing idles like a cadillac now.

I'm going to go hide now...
