Why do some GM map sensors not work?
Last week we were tuning for over 20 lbs of boost. I purchase a GM map sensor from a Monte Carlo. I could not get the car to idle with it in. We tried many different combonations of PIM settings. Not sure why, but I tried to use the 3 bar map sensor that came with my 30 lbs boost gauge. Anyone know why some 3 bar map sensors don't work?

because you need a datalogit to change the PIM settings to match the GM map sensor.
also, the montecarlo comes with a 1bar map sensor, you need a 3 bar map sensor if you plan on boosting a lot. 1 bar 2 bar and 3 bar map sensors almost look identical, there are different codes on it and different notches on the top of it.
if you can take a detailed picture of the top and bottom of the map sensor and ill help you determine which one it is

hello i have the same problem. i think i get a 3 bar map sensor, the seller told me that´s from an turbo trans am from about 89bj. i look for different combinations and the only one works was a to high volt by atmosphere ( 4,...volt); and if i see it and i know the original 3bar map sensor had to give me 1.65volt. so i think thats no 3bar map sensor. i find some information in the net. look at this side u see the code.(www.robietherobot.com/storm/mapsensor.htm)

I tried the same 3 bar map sensor my buddy used on his Haltec. It will not work for the Power fc. The Power fc seems to be picky on which one you use. I just ordered the MSD version...we will see if that works.
