Who's using the DIY wideband wth a datalogit?

Could someone who's using the DIY wideband and has it hooked up to their datalogit to record A/F numbers please walk me through your setup?

For the life of me I can't get mine to read A/F numbers. I just get zeros in the cells.

As far as I can tell I have everything setup correctly on the datalogit map watch program, with the polys and AN1-AN2 setups and I've got voltage coming out of the wideband box into the datalogit box but all I log are zeros.

I have the display for the DIY WB and that seems to work just fine.
So I'm fairly sure the WB is working.

HELP! :-)

Under map watch you should have the first drop down set to your AUX AN1-AN2 Wide Band, the second at Avg, the next at 0, and the last at 15. Right?

OOh... another though. On the main FC Edit window....
do "Window" then "MOnitor". I think you need to have some stuff in there checked off....

Like what? Do I need to put something in the auxilary AD area? If so what do I put in the boxes next to AN1, AN2?

Open the Monitor window (same pulldown for Mapwatch window) and look for check boxes at the right side of the screen. There are boxes for basic, advanced, map ref, etc ... check the one for the aux inputs and you should be set.

It's been checked the whole time.
Do I need to open and hit start in the monitor box first. Then open and start the A/F map watch function?

Nope, start and stop work fine from mapwatch. Have you looked at the max value field on the mapwatch screen? I usually run an obscene number to cover rpm. If it's zero you won't read afrs.

What values did you use in setting up the aux? and do other values show up in mapwatch while datalogging?

"Nope, start and stop work fine from mapwatch."

That's what I thought.

" Have you looked at the max value field on the mapwatch screen? I usually run an obscene number to cover rpm. If it's zero you won't read afrs."

It's set at 15 or 16. I thought that sets the max number you would see as an A/F number. As in 11.5 or 14.7 and so on in the cells. I'm not recording rpm numbers so why would I need to set it for large number?

What values did you use in setting up the aux?"

The delta is set to AN1-AN2 and I set the poly to a: 1.6344 b: -2.1693 c: 9.914
Volts are 0-5

" and do other values show up in mapwatch while datalogging?"

Good question. I forgot to see. Let me check.............

OK, I found that the only time things get logged on map watch and/or the real time graph is if their corresponding box is checked on the monitor screen in the datalgit box list.
In other words, if I check the basic box I can watch the things in the basic list, if I check the advanced box I can watch the advanced list items and so on.

And I found if I check the Aux A/D box I now can log A/F numbers. But only the number not the cell that is being used at the time. And I can get the graph feature to record A/F numbers now too.
But I still can't get the A/F numbers to move from cell to cell in the map watch field.
The A/F number changes, but it only is displayed in the N01-P01 cell. It never moves to any other cell.

The other items I can watch do move from cell to cell. Like IGL and IGT numbers

I think I'm close to having this solved, I just need the last piece of the puzzle.

It looks like I finally got it.

In the monitor field I checked the Aux A/D box in the datalogit subfield, then hit start for the monitor and then start my map watch and now it's logging A/Fs in the cells as I move through them.

Now that I can log I need to understand the best way to change fuel settings.

Should I start by changing the cell setting in the Inj Map first?

Or change the base map cell?

Also how do I determine what numbers to use as I change the cells?

Just add or subtract 5-10% here and there and then relog the A/Fs to see how close I get to what A/Fs I want?

Thanks to all for the help

Simple fuel changes are easy to do and understand with these basic steps:

1) run the recalc feature to convert the INJ values to 100%, it automatically changes the base map to include the old INJ values

2) pick your target AFRs based on boost, etc

3) do multiple logs at one or more boost values

4) check the no of samples in cells of interest (e.g. full throttle at boost), ignore cells with 2 or fewer values

5) compare avg and max AFRs in each individual cell, if there's a big diff between max and avg in several cells (>0.4 or higher) you might have an ignition problem to fix. this varies so pay attention over time and you will develop a feel for what is ok.

6) compare several logs to ensure getting consistent AFRs

7) for every 0.1 AFR you are off target add or sub 1% fuel in the INJ map and log some more, I use avg AFRs here. if you need to subtract more than 5% suggest you sub less than 5% and log some more ... make small changes, don't pull out 10% fuel just because you are off scale rich

8) look closely at the base fuel map during tuning, run recalc and look for steady increasing or decreasing values as you move across the map. if you find some lean/rich spots just average them out with the surrounding cells.

9) you may want to log at different boost levels so you can tune each Prow of the map. reasons are many.
