Who was selling custom commander mount?
A little while back, someone was selling a commander mount, but I can't seem to find the thread anymore. Seems like it mounted in the screw holes in the glove box, and was aluminum, I think. All the links I come up with are broken. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

I was selling mine a while back. Think it's the one you're talking about. Powder coated rough black aluminum that mounted between the dash and glove box.
I sold the rest to Gotham Racing. Check out their web site for ordering info.
Also Sled Driver was selling some that mounted on the right side of the stereo. Dunno if he still has any.

Yeah, that's it!!! Took me a little while to find it on their site....
Couple quick questions for you. Can you still remove the commander easily? Sometimes I like to hold it up in front of my face if I'm trying to drive and watch something. Also, have you done any track days with it, and if so, will it pass tech? I know they're sensitive about things flying around in the car. I wondered how they'd feel with a metal blade by the instructor's leg....
Thanks for the replies

It can be removed fairly easily. After a while I found some sticky backed foam kinda like dynamat that I cut out and put in between the Commander and the bracket.
It holds it quite well and eliminates any rattles that may have been there before. But you can remove it easily by pulling straight up.
The only possible way I can see of the Commander falling out is if you roll your car, which I hope would never happen at an x-cross...
I'm sure some of the guys I sold it to track their car, hopefully one of them will answer... I'll ask Steve if he knows of any of his customers that do.
Also you may try Chris up at Rotary Performance, they've sold a few to their customers.
And the bracket doesn't extend more than 2 or 3" past the e-brake handle, so I seriously doubt it would have any chance of hurting passengers.

That sounds perfect. I'm actually most concerned about my track days at VIR. They're very strict in tech, and understandably so. There have been cars to roll there, which was a real eye-opener for me. Hell, there's even been cars to spin on the straight and get airborne....
Thanks a ton for the info. I'll check into those sources. And nice design, by the way!

I noticed a remark on Gotham's site regarding non-93 models. Does your Commander mount work with 94-95 glove boxes? (since they changed them to make room for the airbag)

It does work with 94,95 glove boxes, but doens't look quite as "factory installed" as the 93. On the 93, the holes you have to drill are past the glove box when you shut it.
But you can't do that with the 94 and up models. It's still flush against the side of the dash, but you can see where you drill.
Since the paint almost exactly matches the dash (rough black), with some black counter sunk screws you can barely even tell.
But some people don't like putting holes in their interior when you may take the part out at some point in time.
I'll try to find some pictures a friend of mine took who installed it in his 94.
