Power FC Wacky idle after PFC install.

Wacky idle after PFC install.
Just received and installed my PFC and Commander (finally, yay! ) when I first started it up the idle shot up to 2500 RPM's for about 5 minutes until the water temp read 70C, then it jumped from 1000 to 1500 untill the water temp read about 80C at which point it leveled off to about 1200. I'm thinking that the fast idle cam needs to be adjusted because I messed around with that stuff a long time ago when I was trying to fix a high idle problem. Does this sound right? Does the PFC need to "learn" anything to control idle? TIA.

Its self learning, you have to let it idle for the first 30 minutes or so after install. Do it without AC on, then with, and without all the other stuff, like lights wipers, etc... It may take some time for it to come down. Other wise you may have to adjust it. Do a search and it should be on here some where.

Thanks, I reset the computer and let it idle for 30 minutes or so and then took it for a drive, came back and let it idle some more under different E/L conditions and it smooted out real nice. Now though somtimes it stalls when I come to a stop in neutral with the brakes on, usually if I have the brakes on first and then put the clutch in, and more often it happens with the wheel turned. Any thoughts? Dashpot needs adjustment possibly?

when you start coming to a stop and you see that the car wants to die or the rpms are jumpy just rev it to about 1500-2000 a few times and it should smooth out again. i had to do this a few times and i havent had it happen since

I opened my doulbe throttle just a touch, to keep them from slamming shut, and clodes the idle screw all the way. My car idles smoothly at about 850 rpm... When I drive hard, and lift, the car drops to about 1300 for a second, and then falls to idle... This is much better than before when the car would drop to 500 or so, and hesitate / stumble, and then kick up to 800.

I removed my butterflies I felt the boost definetly come on quicker. Mazda put them there so that boost slowly builds up to prevent a lean condition in the engine. I don't think we need them now

I had to wait to get home to dig up an old pic. Here it is. These are them. You can always wire them open, but they will still disrupt the air flow. Really, the best thing to do would be to remove the upper intake and remove them. You will need to plug up the hole they will leave open on the back side of the manifold. Like I said before, Mazda installed these butterfly flaps to prevent boost from building up too quickly possibly causing a lean condition.

xph / Dan,
Exactly which adjustment is that / where is located, how do I know I have it set "right" ...
I now have: "drop to 500 or so, and hesitate / stumble, and then kick up to 800" & would love to fix it.
thanks,
:~) Steve
