trouble connecting the PowerFC-please help

Hi people

I need help connecting my new PowerFC.

I own a model 93 European car, a Japanese model 2001 motor and a new Japanese PowerFC but the connections dont match.

I could use the connectivity charts for the Apex-i PowerFC because my current connectivity doesnt match.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a whole lot.

The origin of the motor doesn't matter. What matters is the engine wiring harness and ECU version.

Around 1993-94 they had a cooling system recall in the USA, do not know about the rest of the world. They installed a jumper cable between the engine harness, body harness and ECU. Later Mazda hard wired this into the engine harness. When I replaced my 1992 harness with the newer one in 2000, I had to also remove the old jumper.

Later year Jap cars around 1999 had a newer 16 bit ECU compared to the 1992-1995 USA 8 bit ECU.

If you got a Jap PFC for the 16bit but your car is 8bit, that could be the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply

Yup, that seems to be the problem, my car is 8bit and the motor is 16bit. That problem I dont know how to solve.

Any ideas????

Motors are not 8 or 16 bit. ECU and harnesses are.
I could get a late model engine that had a 16bit ecu and use it in my 92 car by using the 92 8bit harness and ecu.

Did you not fully understand my previous answer?

I imagine that you car is fully 8bit but you got a 16bit ecu.

This is for you to determine and only you can do it!

Hey Chuck: Not only are the ECUs different the plugs are DRASTICALLY different. Here is what I think ....

1) Car has the plugs #1&#2 harness
2) ECU wiring harness has the wrong #3&#4 harness
4) Who knows which ECU he has!!!

Wrangler: Are you trying to run this motor for the first time in your car?

This should be assumed as a great possibility by anyone with any analytical skills.

OK people since I didnt make my self clear as what exactly the problem is, here are some details.

I had a 92 engine and its respective wiring but due to a short-circuit I had to replace the engine.
I replaced the 92 engine with a 2001 Japanese motor which includes the wiring for that exact engine. The connection of the new motor fits to the wiring of the Apexi 32bit PowerFC all right. What I'm trying to connect is that 32bit Apexi PowerFC with the wiring of the car (electronic wiring etc).

Hope it's clear now, if you have any ideas I'd appreciate it.

Thanks a lot for the support :-)

I have a feeling you will be on your own. You are going to have to rework some connectors.

Why would being a 8bit or 16bit matters? Are the pinouts of the harness/ecu different than the older version?
All the senors reading are analog so how could that matter?
I couldn't imagine mazda creating a different p/n and wasting money to change everything on the harness?

Believe it ... the pinouts were changed for '96 models. I don't know that the sensors were different, no idea, but the ECU pinout is different.
