my datalogit unit was working with the serial port on my old win98 computer, Now I've got an XP system with only usb, I got a serial to usb convertor from the local computer store and it does'nt seem to work with the datalogit unit, I know the convertor works cause I can use it on other devices, I'm just wondering what brand and model of convertor is compatible with the datalogit and win XP, thanks in advance

 

IOGear from Best Buy. Use the driver that comes with the USB to serial adapter.

I have no datalogit but can tell you that converter sold by www.lindy.com is working on every other interface i'm using and it's quite cheap !

 

or if you want, you can get an old laptop with a 9-pin serial port and not have to worry about the adapter ......

 

As an update for anyone else, the new brand name carried by Best Buy, Dynex, works.

It's model number DX-UBDB9 - USB PDA/Serial Adapter. The included driver works perfectly so far with Win XP SP2. I start the car and FC-Edit before turning on the car.
