Question: How to hookup Techedge to Datalogit?

Trying to hookup the techedge to the datalogit so I can log some runs. Is there not a serial cable of some sort to link the two or do I have to build one? If I have to build one, can someone explain how I can do this? I haven't done too much wiring so can I have the v.dummies?

Also, do I need the techedge software installed in order to run it through the datalogit?

Thanks a bunch.

Unhappy

These widebands are not hard to wire up. They even come with instructions. Can you believe that?

At minimum is the one 0-5V wire to the DL AN1.
At max is also connecting the WB's gound to AN2 and run the delta function.

It is the same for all WBs. Read one and you know them all.

I even wrote up how to calibrate your WB to the DL if your WB has it's own display.

If I had intructions I would have read them, but I don't. I also don't have the software. I got the unit from friend and he lost it all. Hopefully it's not too much to ask but would you happen to know what setting I'll need to adjust on the datalogit. It's on the setup-auxilary etc etc, I just need to know what values to plug in.

Also, where does the serial cable on the techedge plug into or do I need it?

Thank you.

Eric,

There is a schematic at the techedge website. Do you have the display with the Techedge kit? I just used a serial cable and cut off the connector and only used the signal wire and ground to hook up to the datlogit box.

I don't have the display. I do however have that short serial cable. Should I try taking the box apart and trying wiring it up myself? I'm looking at their website but

Okay, I've got that plugged into my datalogit. Just need to figure out the wiring.

My car is not here, so I'm trying to recall with my poor memory. I believe I just used the signal and ground from the cable that comes from the box. You don't need to take the box apart. Which version do you have?

Hell, I don't know for sure..... I got it from Jeff48. It has 3 led lights on it ( I think ). Maybe 1.5?

Mine also has the long green connector on the end of the box.

So I've got the power and ground which gos to the battery and ground, right?. Then I've got that serial cable. Do I need to chop up that serial cable?

I don't know how Jeff had that hooked up to the datalogit. Yes you need power and ground to the box, but the display also needs power and ground. So you need to be very careful.

There should be a short serial cable with nine pins or slots. I believe pin 2 goes to AN1 and pin 5 goes to gnd. After you power the box check those two pins to see if they are providing a signal and ground.

I had Version 1.0. I think Jeff's version has a cable that goes to the display and then a cable that goes from the display to the datalogit box.

If you can wait till next week after Wednesday my car will be back and I will be more certain as to how I hooked mine up.

Yes, I have that short cable. Books, I took a look at this thread and it seems this might be the way to do it? https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=tech+edge

Should I just cut the connector off one end of the cable and use the signal and ground wire?

I'd wait for you but I have a race coming up next week so I'm pressed for time.

I don't need to run any datalogit software right?

Badog, states the correct connections....just be sure to cut off the side of the cable that is NOT connected to the Techedge box

the following is if you are coming from the rrs232 side:

There should be a short serial cable with nine pins or slots. I believe pin 2 goes to AN1 and pin 5 goes to gnd. After you power the box check those two pins to see if they are providing a signal and ground.

you'll need to use datalogit to enter the polynomial values and if you don't have the display you'll need a laptop with datalogit to display the AFRs

Should I do it the way that badog says since I have that cable already?

Yes, I've already entered the poly.... a = 1.6344 b = -2.1693 c = 9.9414. I have the datalogit and laptop. I do come somewhat prepared

So, hookup the power and ground to the battery. Hook up Pin 7 from the DB9 to AN1. Hook up Pin 6 to AN2 and I'm good to go for logging afr's?

I didn't read the entire post, but the pin connections follow what is stated on the techedge website. Just be sure to test the pins for voltage and ground before connecting it to the datalogit box. The voltage should be close to 4 volts if the sensor is just seeing free air.

So check that the signal wire is getting around 4 volts and that the ground is good?

I owe you beers.

been reading it all day, still can't get it to show up on the datalogit. I have the 2.0 version of it.

Not sure what to do, jeff48 writes "physically put in 0volts=9 AFR and 5 volts= 19 AFR". I've the other numbers and those and still can't get it to work. Not even sure if I have it hooked up right...... My cable with the rj45 jack on it seems to be put together wrong, there is no wire hooked up to pin 4.

Any help would be great.

OKAY, got a number to finally come up. I can only see a afr number if I look under add watch and then wideband/an1/an2. Problem is, the number moves slower than mallasis.

Anyone know why the number moves so slow?

Yeah, I get the afr number to display but it hover between 10-12 afr's. When I rev up the motor, nothing happens....

What the hell?
