Question about the knock and base map
I have T78 and race port and Power FC, but my car is running like crap. The exhaust has a lot of gas smell coming out, lag, and rough idle. I just did a engine rebuilt, and i need a good map for the break-in period. I told by some forum people that i need a base map for the break-in period, and they said the base map is good for break-in; is it ture ?? I have a brand new Power FC, does it mean it has a base map ?? What can i do with the Power FC ???
I also found problem about knock today. The PFC read the knock is not stable. While i m warming up my car, I step a little bit on the gas padel and the idle is going up and down, up and down for about 5-7 sec., and the knock is moving high and low with the idle.
i would like to know is it anyone know what problem is it ?? what should i do this issue ??
thx

How do you break in and engine? What is a break-in map?
When breaking in an engine, you drive it keeping the revs and boost down very low for a period of time, and slowy increase both revs and boost. This means you are basically using the bottom half of a PFC map for no boost, and up to P15 for light boost. These areas are almost the same for most engines; stock or ported.
Thus you do not need a special map to break in the engine, you only need to control your driving habits. You can use a stock base map to break in a very modded engine.
There is no rocket science here, just simple logic and undestanding of how things work. All that is needed is for your injectors to be set up properly, and then a little tuning for a good idle.

"but my car is running like crap. The exhaust has a lot of gas smell coming out, lag, and rough idle."
From your above statement; your engine is getting way too much fuel due to:
(1) idle fuel maps too rich?
(2) too much idle fuel pressure?
(3) leaking injectors or injector seals?
(4) injectors not set up correctly in the PFC?
You need to FUEL tune your idle area. This is one of the functions of the COMMANDER.
If you do not know how to do it, find someone locally to show you.
