I've got all the versions of the PowerFC in the FAQ -

If you bought it new, it will likely be one of the current versions of the PowerFC. They're not upgradeable - there's really only 2 versions for our cars, the old and new. They do have different versions for the later revisions ('96 and '99) that we didn't get in the US. It's all in the FAQ.

Apexi Japan does offer a "Pro Upgrade" that adds drag-racing type features like ignition cut - this is a new ROM for the unit.

Seems like a while back somebody was trying to sell one on the datalogit forum. I think they were trying to sell the whole PFC, IIRC. Apparently you had to have the old-style PFC which has a slot for the chip.

Ok, so you have to replace the whole CPU which stores the program in it's internal ROM.
But the internal ROM could be read into an EEPROM and then you can tell the CPU to execute the program from an external EEPROM and not the internal ROM
Also the older socketed CPU is out of production, our distributor has even called NEC Japan and they couldn't find any development kit or CPU's in their warehouse. So either Apexi had bought a bunch of CPU's before it went out of production or the newer PFC's have an other CPU.
The socketed CPU is the D78P334LQ, could anyone take a pic of the non-socketed CPU?
