Power FC Power FC problems

Power FC problems
I finally installed the PFC in my 93 FD today. I followed the instructions in Dale Clarks Power PC FAQ and also made the connection at 1V for the warning light option. When I turned on the ignition the Commander buttons lit up, but nothing on the display. I checked the connector - looked good. I went ahead and started the car and it went through the idle learn process. During the idle learn the A-F meter started out in the rich zone and ended up at the low end of the lean indication. I do not have a wideband sensor, so the manual for the A-F meter says to just connect it to the O2 sensor input to the ECU, which I did. Granted it is not a wideband unit, but still it should give me some kind of reading shouldn't it? After the idle learn process was complete, the car idles at ~1500 rpm, and the A-F meter is all the way to the lean indication. If I push on the gas pedal at all the A-F meter pegs all the way to rich indication and then the the engine starts surging again until I let off the throttle, then it goes back to idling as before.
So, is there a way to test the commander? And does anyone have advice on what's going on with this?

Can you give a full list of modifications? How did the car run before you installed the Power FC? It's hard to say what's up with your display. Without another Commander or a Datalogit box to check, there's not a whole lot to tell you except the obvious stuff like making sure no pins are broken on the connector.

If you have not removed any emissions equipment, your oxygen sensor is going to be mostly determined by the flow of air from the smog pump. When the engine is warm, usually at idle and low load/low rpm the air is directed to the exhaust ports which dilutes/leans the mixture after it leaves the engine. The output voltage of a narrowband sensor is highly dependent on sensor temperature; the FD is an old car and its stock narrowband O2 sensor on the FD is not heated. The accuracy is going to be inconsistent at idle. The narrowband sensor is only used under certain cruising conditions in order to have a mixture that oscillates around the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio. So don't read too much into it.
It's pretty hard to say what's up with your idle without some kind of datalog.

Well, found out hwy my Commander is not working....3 wires are broken off at the circuit board inside the Commander. Can anyone tell me the order the wires attach to the board, working from right to left? (pin 1 to pin 5). Pin 5 is green, pin 4 is yellow, pins 1-3 are broken off.
