Power FC PFC Rewiring question

PFC Rewiring question
I purchased my 93 RX7 about two months ago and have been getting accustomed to it. I've had the intermittent AC issues that are well documented on this forum and was prepared to work on the fix. When I opened up my panel today, I found that the wiring of the Power FC was a bit surprising.
The previous owner has cut wire 1N (Steering Pressure Sensor/Mileage Switch) and spliced it to wire 1E (Air conditioning sensor). Do you know why he would have done this?
I am planning on implementing the AC Fix using a relay switch (AC FIX), but before I do it - I want to understand why this other mod would have been done.
If you know, please let me know your thoughts. Also - do you think it is still safe to implement the above AC fix without causing issues to this other mod.. for whatever reason it was done.
Thanks
