PFC problems-just installed, car wont start
I have been searching.
Background: I picked my car up tonight. New engine installed along with GReddy SMIC, APEX Intake, DP, MP, CB.
Obviously, I am in my break-in period. I drove the car home (80 miles) slowly (less than 3K rpms and no boost).
Excited, I installed my new PFC with commander. THE CAR WON"T START! I re-checked my work. Everything is fine. CAR STILL WON'T START. I switched back to the stock ecu. The car started right up. The PFC seems to be working correctly.
PFC came from SR Motorsports.
What's the deal? I am sure it worked at one time. They had to install maps and check it out.
Is there a simple fix?
Has anyone experienced this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You're in Louisville? As in, Louisville Kentucky? If so... Yay! I'm not the only PowerFC owner in the city anymore! Maybe we can get together and work through your problem.

There was no instruction of anything you needed to do when installed? Did you call SR sports? Check the REV limit... Does it not even try to turn over? Can you disribe it a little more....?

Scott - Louisville, KY it is!! I live in Oldham County. There aren't many 3rd gens around the area. and not many people here I trust to work on my car. I'd like to hook up sometime. Are you SCCA racing?
Jason - I followed the instructions. They are very simple. It is Plug and Pray! The car did turn over. It just wouldn't fire. The commander seemed to be working fine. SR is closed until Monday. I was hoping to figure it out prior to then. If not, I will just continue to break the car in as planned. It is soooo hard to not to go past 3k rpms and no boost.

I had a similar problem with my car turning over but not catching and it was due to the MAP sensor being unplugged. That's probably not your problem though, as you say it works fine with the stock ECU. Perhaps the PFC is more dependent on the MAP sensor? Even so, if it was the MAP sensor, it would run like crap with the stock ECU, so that probably isn't it. In any case, check that.
Perhaps we can switch out your PFC for mine and see what happens.
Give me a ring: 439-2730.

UPDATE---I am ready to run this car off a cliff.
I got the car started 1 time. Excited, I let the car idle for about 12-14 minutes and then took off driving. Evidently, I did not shut the hood all the way. At about 40 mph I got a big surprise! My hood blew open. Luckily, I didn't crash the damn car. Anyway, after cursing for a while, I secured the hood and drove back home.
After turning the car off, the car would not start again.
I have isolated my problem. When turning over the car, the fuel pump works but I get no spark. There is a ground problem somewhere or possibly a short or ignition problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions???
Skotx - thanks for the offer. SR confirmed that it is not the PFC and it started another RX-7 right up. I would still like to get together sometime.

I used to live in Kentucky and can verify no mechanic knows what an RX7 is! =)
I currently live in Indiana..and suggest if/when you get this problem fixed..a good mechanic to take your car to is AIM tuning here in Indianapolis. They specialize in Rx7's.
