PFC/Datalogit IGL/IGT above 4000
as most know there is a difference ( 1 degree at 4000, 2 degrees at 5000 ) between the igl/igt map and the resultant Datalog.
JD has posted that if he wants to see, say, 15 degrees igl he sets the map at 13. from this i would assume he thinks, or at least tunes, off the logged number.
i was talking to Steve Kan about this the other day and asked him if he knew which number was correct on an absolute basis. his answer surprised me... which was that he didn't know.
i called ari yellen yesterday figuring that he, as a dealer for datalogit and the PFC and having routinely made big hp, ought to know but he is out and RP is closed til monday... ( i'll bet he's out racing)
so................ does anyone know???
i grant it is possible to just tune using egts etc and run what looks good but i would like to know.
anyone out there w the answer?

I see the same when logged and also when I use map watch. I see up 3 degrees more advance, I don't conclusively know which is correct but looking at egt's and knock I believe the the logged and map watch numbers are the true figure.

Just ignore what the PFC does, tune by either EGTs or knock level.
Best to check for knock(1) in winter when the engine is most likely to cause knock from too much advance, and (2) summer from too lean AFRs.
Truthfully, I have only experinced higher knock levels in winter, and I set my timing by that.

I concur with Chuck and Steve, shame the PFC is so goofy that we cannot directly compare with other ECU maps. In general, there are to many variables to say what is acceptable timing at a P-N cell. Think about it, we don't need to know exactly what each P row represents in terms of boost or what a timing value means in absolute timing as long as we can start with a conservative setup. Start conservative and hope you are conservative enough the first time on boost.
p.s. Howard, how did the rotor specific fuel adjustments work out?
