non seq with 1600cc secondaries wont idle and flooding.

My rebuild is running rich, wont idle (dies under 1500 rpm), and floods after shutdown. I've unplugged the secondaries and diled back my 550 primaries to 50 percent or so. still the problem presists. I dont know if im fighting a mechanical problem or computer problem. Just wondering if anyone had any base setting tricks to get my car to lean out and idle? I've got a datalogit but have been having problems with my laptop connecting to it, so ive been battling the commander right now. I'll get the laptop to work when I have some time.

I dont think my fuel is leaking past my injectors since pressure holds after shutdown.

That's strange problems. If in fact nothing is leaking, then your secondaries shouldn't have anything to do with it since they aren't used at idle. Yet with stock primaries you shouldn't need to fiddle with anything on the idle. If you want to try to pull some more fuel out, you can try putting in negative lag for the primaries, but that really shouldn't be necessary for 550s. I assume you know that it's likely to flood anytime you turn it off and the car isn't warm yet.

I guess I'd check to make sure everything is hooked up correctly, especially the MAP sensor, idle control solenoid, and the TPS sensor. If it's fresh after a rebuild, the idle bleed screw might need to be reset too.

Make sure you have your MAP sensor plugged in... I left my elect connection off and had similar problems.

I went ahead and threw my 850s in with an extra o-ring to rule out bad injectors. same problem. I have to unflood the engine, throw some MMO in, the engine doesnt start right away, it takes about 3 seconds and once it is one im able to let it run till operating temp, i pulled out a full milisecond on the 850s for the timing and the engine seemed to clean up in behavior. I could bring the rpms down lower than before but cant bring it down far enough to let it idle. That MMO sure does smoke like a mother. I think im starting to **** off my neighbors. As soon as i let it reach operating temp I let it run for another 5 mins or so and I cut the ignition. After that point I cant start it again, and the plugs are wet. I dont get it.

looks like my fuel pressure gauge is lying. Dropped my fuel pressure from 34 to 28 and it is a happy camper. Either that or i need to play with the power fc some more.

Fuel pressure might make sense. You really shouldn't be having to do ANYTHING to the PFC for idle if you have stock primaries. I would check everything else rather than trying to use the PFC for a bandaid.

Shoot, I can't remember offhand. I know the specs are in the FSM, which you can find online. Don't forget you're supposed to set your fuel pressure with the vacuum line removed from your regulator, since the vacuum further reduces pressure. It's been a while since I've driven my car, but my gut feeling is that 28 doesn't sound too low for idle. Maybe someone else here can help more on that...

28psi may be a little low, depends on how much vacuum you are pulling, you'd be pulling quite a lot to get down to 28psi.

Use a jumper wire to turn on the pump with the ignition on (car not started obviously) and adjust your fuel pressure to 40psi.
