Newbie Question about Boost Settings
I've only had my PFC for a few weeks, I'm trying to learn my way around before I start messing with stuff. On cold days I'm hitting fuel cut, so I want to turn down my boost. I'd rather turn down the duty cycle than screw with the boost value.
My question is why are there 2 settings for boost? I'm not talking about the primary and secondary, it's the #1 and #2 settings I don't get. Is there a way to manually swap which one the car is using, or does the PFC use one over the other under certain conditions? If I want to turn down the boost, do I do it on #1, #2 or both?
Also what's all this business about self learning? If I turn down the boost, will it "self-learn" to add more?
Thanks.

I am by no means a PFC Guru, but I'll try and answer some of your questions. This is for the PFC in an FD.
Self Learning is more for idle than anything else, it won't raise or lower your boost settings, but may "smooth them out" some ( the PFC doesn't know how much, or little boost your engine can handle). The manual says "the self learning value is for reference only".
The two settings are so you can set two separate boost levels and change between them using the commander or DataLogic. (one for Granny in the car, one for led-footing it, for example). Some say that you can change this on-the-fly, but I'm not sure on that.
Here's the big one. Duty cycle controls your boost level, Boost Level controls when fuel cut comes in. IIRC, fuel cut comes in 2 kg/cm2( cm squared) above boost level settings. With a boost setting of 0.8, fuel cut will come in at 1.0 boost. Be careful with these settings, if your fuel system can't deliver enough fuel for the boost you are running you'll run lean and damage the motor. Higher base duty cycle=more boost
Find a PFC manual and download it and spend some time reading about the settings, tunning seems like such a black art to me, so Find someone who knows, that you trust, and let them help with the Voodoo that is tunning a boosted rotary.
