Newbie needing pfc help

I just recentley got my car running, but have never driven it yet. I have a few ?'s for some of the fd Power fc guys here. I have a Gm 3 bar map in my car and when its ideling , which has never dropped below 1750rpms as of yet, my reading is 540mmhg. Is that normal for a 3 bar map? Also like i mentioned the idel is very high. My base fuel presure is 30psi is that about right? Plus the leading and trailing timeing jumps alot from -25 to -7. I under stand the timing will advance when the engine raises the rpms but I have seen it do this at the same rpm. Last is my flooding problem it likes to flood on start up and it smokes really bad when running. I checked the plugs the rear rotor looks like is has a little bit of carbon on it but nothing really bad for a rotary and the front looks brand spanking new. Any hints and tips with my issues will be a great help to me I dont know of many people in my area that are skilled with these systems. The closes is in chicago I think. But any way thanks for any help given.

No help from me since I do not have a GM 3bar.

Have your tried tuning your idle area fuel and adjust the idle parameters?

Most can be done with the commander. Time to start learning.

I would think the bucking at WOT is from being too rich for the ignition system. Does it backfire after bucking? If I remember the pressures need to be rescaled or something after installing a 3 bar MAP sensor. Do a search. I hope you have a Datalogit and a wideband O2 setup.

Yes Matt Hey I found the problem and you very close to it. The PFC wasn't set for a 3 bar it was still set for the stock mazda one. So I am going to reinstall the mazda sensor since I not able to do the calibration my self. I was wondering what is the mmHg on everyones PFC display when Ideling roughly?? I think my stock one is bad as well it reads +.56 when ideling which would make the computer think its in to boost correct??. I also wasn't giving it WOT I was just giving it gas like I was driving it normally. I do have a datalogit but It is not installed yet. I do not have a wideband o2 how would you run the wide band with the PFC

Wow, you really have some problems. I don't watch the PFC guage much so I can't help you out there but you should read vaccuum at idle. Does the boost reading fluctuate any? Did you hook up the Mazda boost sensor correctly? Do you have the Commander? If so go into the etc->Sensor/SW Check screen and see if your PIM or anything else is highlighted to show a problem.

The wires from a WBO2 can go into the Datalogit box. Then you setup the Datalogit software according to the manual.

I will have to check that tomorrow. I am positive the map is hooked up right. Its a no brainer just reconect the wires that are the same color and soder them together again. I am next day airing a new map tomorrow so I will see what lays instore for me. Yes the sensitivity on the sensor was fluctouating a little only like two or fout thousands though. One other thing what is the proper way to compression check our engines. Does it need to be warm? What plug holes do I use? Do I need to depress the pedel when cranking? I did mine to night cold with the throttle closed and the highest I got was 90psi

Verify correct installation of stock MAP sensor. Then re-initialize the PFC. Change the injector settings to match what you are running. Now you should be fairly close on idle and vacuum areas. Once you make sure everything is working properly, reinstall the 3-bar MAP sensor and change the PIM setting to the correct Option (search on the forum). Your idle and vacuum should still be relatively ok. Go on from there.

You really should (must) have a datalogit and a wideband for tuning. Do you have Wargasm's guide to Tuning with the Datalogit? (http://www.zeroglabs.com/rx7/singleturbotuning.htm)

Have you read Chuck's pre-tuning guide? https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/pre-tuning-preparation-363664/

It just sounds like you spend a little more time studying the PFC before jumping ahead.

Yes I know I am very new to the whole tuning thing and its a new motor and do not want to blow it up. I had the rx7 store set up a base map for me and I am sending it back there to have the 3 bar map sensor calibrated in it. I hope this will at least get me on the road for some brake in miles.

I found my problem I pulled the engine to fix an oil and exhaust leak and found that I had three bad injectors one of my primarys was the only good one so they are all getting sent for cleaning.

^ Awesome man! Thereis only one thing in this world that satisfied me more then getting my car running right...

1. Birth of my daughter

Good luck getting it running right. Just remember to have patience. Don't rush into anything on assumption that its all fixed. Get it tuned by a professional if you lack the skills and tools to do it yourself.
