Power FC New software for Power FC users! FCWatch preview.

My PFC w/commander was just installed, should be picking my FD (tuned and dynoed) in the next couple days. Soon I'll be ready to PLAY!
So is there any alternative to rx7.com for purchasing datalogit for $339 (+$25 for USB)? (http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdecu.html#datalogit) Looks like ordering direct from AU does not help, same price basically. (http://www.fc-datalogit.com/buynow.htm) I'm not too much of a cheapskate, but I've already been bent over by buying my PFC and having it installed and tuned by professionals!
Regarding Mac OS X, I've been incredibly impressed with Parallels Desktop for Macs - this allows you to run Win XP on an Intel Mac with very good performance. I can even run 3D CAD modeling programs quite decently, so I expect it ought to handle datalogit and FCWatch without any problems. I got an old heavy Centrino laptop I can use if needed, but I would much prefer to use my slick light MacBook Pro 15 inch for in car use, until and if I ever have an in-car PC.

Picked my FD up yesterday and I have been "exercising" my PFC ever since! Got it tuned for 12 psi for a rwhp of 280+ HP. My car (only mod besides PFC is a RB cat back) runs SOOO much better now! Even just the commander function is sweet to monitor various sensor parameters. I am now very excited about FCWatch!
So what's the good word ky7?

Maybe he got hit by a bus. Or maybe somebody offered him some hush money because he's a witness in a mafia murder mystery. Or maybe his wife is in the hospital. Or maybe I'm bored.
At least if he posted his un-finished project, somebody else could pick up where he left off...bummer.

exactly... I am a software dev as well and have been looking around for something to do...and with my passion for the FD's well you can surely guess what I am up to I am curious though if someone here knows about the power fc protocol ... otherwise I have to spend a lot of time re-inventing the wheel and figuring it out myself.

Boo!
I haven't left off anything, yet!
Development of the interface is steadily improving - since the last time I posted info on FCWatch, it is now a full screen mode application, and the interface has been entirely revised.. It is also currently in testing on a few in-car pc setups and seems very stable. Quality is the main thing, so as soon as I'm satisfied with the product, it will be released. Touch screen support is also a factor, as is providing functionality to allow the user to change settings, rather than just display or log data.

well, look who showed up?
Good to see you didn't get hit by a bus! It's been over 4 months since you last showed your face around here!
buzen:
I grew up in Maple Valley, and was SW Eng in Redmond for 5 years. Now I have a house in Longmont, and studying at CU. It seems we've traded places of sorts.

Hey Cathal how goes the good fight?
Get that pesky boost issue corrected?
Lets see some more screen shots…need something to keep us tided over while we wait
Have you been working on the site a little, I noticed it looked a little different and the needle doesn’t activate upon pushing the flash anime now unless you refresh the page?
Im glad you posted I always see you lurking around but not much posting.

Great work
You're doing some great work on this application and I hope you'll release the preview soon. As a software developer myself and an FD lover I can't wait to get my fingers on this.
I was thinking of maybe writing some Windows PowerShell cmdlets which lets me get data from the PFC. Then I could use the PowerGadgets to quickly make various types of gadgets: http://www.powergadgets.com/
Flash probably has better performance though.
Maybe I'll make some .NET/WPF based solution for PFC one day, but right now there is no time

since i saw people mention Mac OS X in the topic I figured I'd just chime in and say that on my MacBook laptop, using parallels desktop software and installing windows XP to a "virtual" partition I'm running FCEdit flawlessly, as well as LogWorks for the Innovate LM1.
I can pretty much do anything a windows based laptop can do, just on my mac. havent run into any issues, Even when logging through the map watch theres no delay or anything, runs 100% perfect. took some maneuvering with the com ports and such but everything works great.

ky7, do you have an "on your own risk" test version of your software yet that could be installed just to get an idea of how it all looks and performs ? This sw sounds and looks like PFC heaven ! lol
