Lost mapping on PFC, WHY/HOW?
Ive just got my FD back from a specialist where it has been for a PFC fitting and mapping, to cut a long story short, whilst the car was in transit i received a phone call to say the FD had lost its mapping they had done when it finaly arrived the guy who brought it back(on a trailer) said the battery is flat!
Ime well pissed off Any ideas what would cause the PFC to loose its mapping Ime a bit confused why it has come back with a flat battery? which is fairly new(6 months) and more so when they have only just done the maping? 2 days ago, they reckon a faulty pfc? not sure if they are just trying to pass the buck as i suppled them with the new pfc, they have offered to come and map it again?(they are 200mls away) any ideas?
cheers
Steve

Mapping can not be lost by battery disconnect or loss of power.
It would have to be done with the commander or datalogit.
From the ETC menu by selecting YES on the RE-INIT screen, then turn the ignition off then back on.
Someone is screwing you!!!!!!!!

So is it poss that the PFC could be faulty?(Purchased new) I am starting to think the above quote is a poss.
I find it really strange that they have sent the FD back with a flat battery? but have only mapped it a couple of days ago!!! they have had the car for over six weeks but this was due to other work i.e fitting a roll cage, new seats ect and them moving premises ect)

I have heard of instances where if the power wiring isnt connected properly all the settings can be initialized. I cant seem to find the threads but I remember this being an issue in rare cases.
