Ok, so we can plot wideband 02 voltage along with rpm....Now, my qestion is this: Let's say we get a reading of 3.75V at 5200rpm, 10psi of boost. Those are random numbers so don't think about them too much. How does anyone know what a/f value3.75V represents? It has been my understanding that 02 voltage to a/f ratio conversion is a proprietary commodity that manfuacturers DO NOT share under any circumstances. The wide band used for the Fueltronics unit (australia) and Dynojet actually took a specific 02's, placed them into a vacuum, introduced a measured amount of 02 and took a voltage reading. Perhaps Glen could get his hands on a Fueltronics and "datalog" the voltage output readings compared to the Fueltronic's digital a/f ratio output screen?

The M&W UEGO linear O2 sensor, has a calibration chip that is included for each O2 sensor. This gaurantes that it's output is linear for 0-5V.
Included with there system are graphs that show voltage vs AFR for gasoline, diesel, and LNG/LPG. I can go to this and covert voltage to AFR, but the DATALOGIT is suppose to also handle this conversion from what I been told.

One of our UEGO group members has already received a BETA version of the DATALOGIT. Later our group will be using both the UEGO and DATALOGIT together for tuning.

Anybody know much about that DIY box from Oz? I think my soldering skills are up to the task, and if not, I've got a couple EE friends that I'm sure could do it.

If it's a quality kit that will produce results as good as any off the shelf wideband, I'd much rather just spend a few hundred for it than more than a grand for any of the others.

How much extra is the M&W 02 going to be? I'm not sure what you mean by a calibration chip. Is this something embedded into the 02 sensor itself?Any links to their products? TIA.

rx7tt95 ,

The M&W UEGO costs about $1200. They calibrate each O2 sensor to insure it's quality. Any slight deviations is handled by a calibration chip that is inserted into the control box.

Get a group of RX7 owners together and share the expenses of getting both units. Be sure to set up usage/sharing rules that all have to abide by. Including breakage ,and creating income by tuning non group member's cars.

Do a search on M&W Igntions Systems.

Ok, so the M&W comes with it's own box to read the voltage output of it's 02 sensor then? I'm assuming this would require an extra bung on the downpipe as opposed to running the wideband in the stock location and plugging it into the stock harness where the PFC would actually read the voltage and the Datalogit would convert the numbers. I'll do a search. I'm sure their page will answer all my questions :-) Thanks for the info.

To RX794:

The instructions for purchasing the Datalogit are on the first page of this thread in the post by member FD : ) You start by sending an email to: glen@rx7.net.nz not by going directly to the Yahoo group site.

To Johnny,

The best way to get your detailed questions about Datalogit answered is to become a member of their Yahoo Group. After I joined I reviewed the questions and answers from others, plus they send me emails whenever new questions are asked and answered. You can also send questions directly to them and they get back with answers very quickly.

You start by sending an email to: glen@rx7.net.nz telling him you want to join. Go for it, it's free to join their Yahoo Group.

I'm going to reply, because this is a pretty significant new tool for us PFC owners, and this thread could use a bump!

you can change the turbo transition points

also of note - you don't need the commander, if you have a laptop, and you can wire up an external switch to select the boost maps to use!!!!

That feature alone makes it worth it IMHO. You can get a second fog-light swith and control boost levels (well one of two maps at least) from the center console.

not associated with the project.... but plan to be a customer soon

One Datalogit on the way. I figure I may as well be one of the first guinnee pigs. I know this thing is going to go big, especially once the first few get going. The special price is only going to be for two more days. Better hurry!!

Yes, plus the fan temps which is worth the money alone, plus turbo transition points just to name a few. It is very worth the money IMHO.

I am so glad that a non-american company came out with this thing. Can you imagine if PFS or pettit styarted it. wholy ****, it woudl cost like 3k. Thi sis what makes aftermarket ECU the best thing in the world. Just eth ability to datalog if incredible. I just rodered mine today, and I know I won;t sleep until it gets here. no more trying to balance looking at commander and driving 130mph at same time. let alone a 2nd gera run on residential roads while staring at that tiny screen.

Ha, now you have to try to use the mouse at 130 in order to start and stop the dataloging. I managed not to run off the road last weekend though. As others have said, it's a great tool at an unbelievable price. I almost feel guilty.

Yeah, I almost ran off the road playing with the stupid mouse. I requested the developer to do a momentary switch for datalogging while driving.

It's a really good tool; I changed my fan temp to run on high at 90 deg C. I changed the transition point on the turbo by 200 rpms but it's affecting my first turbo boost slightly so I may have to fiddle with the fuel map.

I even set the redline at 2000 rpm for a valet mode and sure enough the sucker chug a lug right at 2000rpm.

Now I just need to buy a wide band sensor to do some dyno tuning.

Buy a wideband? just use the one at the dyno!!!
