Have you ensured that yours is torqued down correctly and is in good shape? I think I saw something in the FSM on how to test it. Also, anything rattling around on your engine will give false readings.

in my PFC manual it actually says

"The knock reading has no value."

doesn't get much simpler than that.

not trying to be rude but i think you're miss understanding what that means, i know i did at first. it's hard to explain but what i think it means is that the nomber doesn't represent a specific measurement. i know that probly didn't help much but i can't think of a better way to explain it. it gives you a scale to go off of rather than saying that you're detonating exactly "this" much. so i don't think that 170+ can be good.

I was just going to ask a question about this.

From the Scuderiacirini site I found the following:

"A J&S Knock Sensor is invaluable - it could save your engine. Install it as early as you can in this process. (Note: if you are going to buy an engine compuetr such as an Electromotive or Motec, these will come with (or have as an option) a knock sensor. No need to buy two.) "

Does the PowerFC have this Knock Sensor capability? Is a J&S or other knock sensor still needed?

I know the PowerFC has the display showing Knock, but does the PowerFC actually do anything about it?

Thanks,

Glen,

My knock sensor has always been "more sensitive" than other cars around here. Check out this chart of my 337RWHP dyno run. It shows knock, boost, INJ and some other stuff.

Nocab72 is having issues of his knock sensor becoming MORE sensitive in the past 24 hours. I'll leave that in it's own thread.

My normal numbers are just under 80. I have seen a 117 while doing some "testing."

Ya last night after a hard pull, my knock went to 170 and stayed between 160 - 170 during light acceleration...I thought for sure my engine was toasted since I rarely see > 50knock.

After an hour cool down period everything is back to normal...?!? will check the sensor, wires, etc tonight. Must have been something loose or malfunctioning because my engine still pulls strong, idles fine and vacuum is normal ~15.
