Harder to start with PFC ?
I recently purchased a PFC and commander, the weird thing is that my car turns more to start with PFC than before with my Pettit or stock ECU's, it used to start in 3-4 turns max. now it does like 6-7 turns??? I swapped to the stock ECU after installing the PFC for that purpose and it worked just as allways, put back the PFC same thing happenning.
Also noticed when the car is warm already it starts real fast and dies right away (not all the time this happens) and idle is real shaky after is running till I hit the gas few times to 4-5 K rpm, than idle kinda gets better but it takes a while.
Any help or clue very appreciated!

Thanks for the reply guys.

I have no idea which solenoids you are talking about, the pins for A/C or something where already cut as the ECU was used before I bot it for about a month or so.
Which solenoids did you mean?

The PFC was never tunned so it's basicaly running on base maps, I'm not boosting much anyway since I got some prob's with my turbos or leak.
rynberg
That's what I wanted to hear if anyone had the same thing happenning, I asked 2 guys from around here with PFC and they said that they never had any problems or noticed any difference between the 2 ECU's.
Thanks for your help people.

I should of stated before that I'm fairly new to the PFC world of ECU's, I did lots of surching and got alot of help (not much specific to my problem though) but I would like to hear form you about the injector crank settings and how are they adjusted?
Thanks,

I now use the Dataloggit software rather than the commander, so I'm only going off of memory. I think it is under Settings -->Water/Injector, or something close to that. The first screen is your Water injector correction settings, then you click again for the cold crank injector times. It will give you injector times for various temps. You need to write those down and publish them, but I have a feeling they will be ok if you're working from a base map. However, you never know if you bought it used or got it from a third party that may have adjusted settings without you knowing.
There is a sticky on this forum with the PFC instruction manual. You need to print it and read it over and over to get familiar with it.
My PFC did not have any pins or wires cut, either.

Don't 'play'...
'Playing around' with the PFC is a dangerous path. One accidental misstep could lead to difficulty starting or running your car, and at worst motor failure. Since you don't have dataloggit, you don't have an easy way to recover your old settings if you bungle it up. Let's start small by you getting your cranking settings and just publishing them, to compare them against a known good setup (mine).
I only say this because I've done all of these things over the years - just trying to prevent you from having to go through the same pain.

I have not changed my crank settings either and I run the same from the default 5.08 map.
I was commenting on why the car runs rough when it starts. What I noticed was he pulled his stock/pettit ECU and then plugged in the PFC. I know mine runs funny (idel) after I pull the cables off each time. So switching back and forth may not have given the PFC enough time to learn his car.
But your right that has nothing to do with why the car takes more time (cranks) to fire up.
Sorry.

Oh, you could definitely be right about the rough running immediately after installing another ecu. But yeah, as far as starting the car, it shouldn't have anything to do with the idle. It never ceases to amaze me how these cars can be so different from one another; some of us have several cranks to start with the default settings and some don't.

I allways have been happy on how fast my car started, 3 turns and that's it, well that's not much of a big deal anyway, the other problem that the car idles ruff on hard starts is kinda freaking me out a bit.
When I swapped ECU's from stock/pettit to PFC I made sure I did the 10 min. procedure with 2 different accessories on and than nothing on, that fixed the my usual lumpy idle I had with stock/pettit ECU.
