Fuel temperatue sensor, do I need it?

I'm replacing the stock secondary fuel rail with an aftermarket rail and 1600cc injectors. The new rail doesnt have the fuel temperature sensor in it. Does anyone know if the power fc uses the fuel temp sensor? Can I leave it out, or do I need to tap a new hole for it on the new fuel rail?

Yes the PFC uses it to slightly vary the injector pulse width. Since I am in the hospital right now, some other DATALOGIT user will have to give the values and to determine if it is only needed for temp extremes or really affects normal driving.

Hospital? Hope everythings OK. Thanks for your help... I'll see what I can find out... anybody else out there know anything? Anybody know if I can leave the sensor out? Does the Power FC use the factory diagnostics system through the check engine light?

maybe thiswill help you decide if you need it or not,
in the datalogit settings page the fuel vs inj correction has 3 temp values.
60 1.20
40 1.00
20 1.00
so, from what i can conclude is that the fuel thermosensor increase fuel if the fuel temp is 60 or greater. i dont know what normal fuel temp is, and it may change a bit if you use a different rail mounted farther from the engine. hope this helps

I have the same setup going on my car now.

I have the PowerFC with the DataLogIt, and I am installing the K2RD secondary fuel rail with the 1600 injectors.

I really don't want to drill and tap the fuel rail for the fuel temp sensor. Is there anyway that I can "fool" the sensor and get away with it?

Any options?

Option 1, plug the factory sensor it in to the harness and lay it somewhere convienent, then change all your fuel temp correction values to 1.

Option 2, install a resistor in place of the sensor and change all your fuel temp correction values to 1.
