Power FC FC Tune preview
#704
Had my FD since 2000, but only recently had a PFC installed, to finally make my FD run properly with a cat back. I got the gumption to PLAY with it and hooked up to this and the FCWatch thread. I'd love to pay less for an interface, but I am already bent WAY over, so I ordered the Datalogit and will enjoy the spending euphoria for now.
Sorry guys I have not read all five zillion pages in this thread. What is the current status of FCTune? If I already splurged on Datalogit, can I get decent gage display and data logging out of FCTune? Would love for the "auto-startup" ideas previously mentioned, but I can live without them. Can I use the latest download link supplied by Fasthatch and actually USE this thing with my Datalogit interface on Win/XP?
Fasthatch - I LOVE what you are doing! I am a wannabee programmer/developer myself and combining this with race car tuning is the BOMB! I hope you are still having fun and I look forward to sending some cash your way when you have a release version of the product. Keep up the good work!!

You can use it in its current state, yes, but you MAY or MAY NOT experience problems. Some of us have issues with the most recent version crashing on startup, while it runs fine for others. Some of those experiencing crashing report that using the version just before the most recent works fine. That said, you can log data, but AFAIK you aren't able to log the Aux inputs on the Datalogit with the current FC Tune. I tried to get logging working with my Wideband, but it appears it is not implemented yet.
I will say, I have used FC Tune with my car, and the interface looks lightyears ahead of FC-Edit, and I look forward to using it in the future when it is completed.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Ouija board ^^. I don't have a wide band yet, so the lack of aux signal support doesn't bother me yet. I guess I will just give it a try when my Datalogit arrives in a couple days.
Have you been following the FCWatch thread (https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/new-software-power-fc-users-fcwatch-preview-533202/)? Looks pretty slick, but seems more "gage display" oriented than "superior tuning display" oriented like FCTune. Maybe they both have a place in our FDs? I just hope FastHatch and ky7 are still having fun. That is the key to these projects persisting to completion.

Downloaed FCTune_0_71.exe from the FastHatch's link earlier in the thread and the 7-07_default.dat.txt file. FCTune installed without a hitch. Once I stripped the trailing .txt from the default .dat file, I was able to open it in FCTune and explore all the stuff in there. HOLY CRAP BATMAN! <-- (blew me away)
Having never played with Datalogit yet, I didn't really appreciate all the different maps and conditions that the PFC has to deal with. FCTune is a very nice looking application. From a programmer's perspective, it looks like FastHatch is a very capable guy and once he has the time, I have no doubt he will flesh FCTune out to perfection.
I am impressed! Keep up the good work FastHatch, you rock!

Hi FastHatch,
Regarding the box that being mentioned in this thread (The box that you have build), will the box work on other software (i.e datalogit) or it's only support FCtune?

For some reason the communication with the FC Commander Pro is unreliable, often the checksums are bad. I'll try to figure out why that happens in the next days.

Awesome software, can't wait till it's ready to use with Nissan SR20DET.
Will the interface box be ready soon? I just got my PFC and I'm only moments away from ordering Datalogit, how long do I have to wait to get your interface?
Thanks!

Ok, I've done some more testing with the FC Commander Pro. The problem is that sometimes a byte is lost. I've double and triple checked everything, the byte is not being sent from the FC Commander Pro to the PC.
I've also used a port monitor to verify that the bytes are not lost in FC Tune.
Fortunately it is possible to detect and solve the problem by retrying the last opteration. By reducing the timeout (the software is still waiting for that missing byte) the user won't even notice that something was wrong.
That's also what the FC Commander Pro software does. I've just logged the communication of the Pro software and it has the same error rate.
So the good news is that you won't notice it, but the bad news is that the Pro adapter is buggy.
It doesn't happen with the Datalogit, I had monitoring running for hours without a single error.
